Renato
“Money” Moicano

has some choice words for referee Dan Miragliotta.

Moicano (21-8-1) faced rising
Ultimate Fighting Championship
lightweight Tom Nolan
(12-1) in the main event of
UFC Vegas 123
on Saturday at Meta Apex in Las Vegas.
Miragliotta drew criticism for standing the fighters up while
Moicano held a dominant grappling position, but the Brazilian has

Why Renato Moicano is furious with Dan Miragliotta after UFC
Vegas 123

Moicano controlled much of the opening two rounds with his
grappling. However, Miragliotta ordered the fighters to their feet
while Moicano had Nolan’s back in the second round. Nolan then hurt
Moicano late in the frame and continued his striking success in the
third before securing a ground-and-pound finish at 1:28.

Moicano said the stand-up surprised him because he did not remember
receiving a warning to increase his activity. He acknowledged that
his frustration caused him to lose focus.

“I was a little frustrated with the referee standing the fight up,”
Moicano told MMA Fighting. “I was a little frustrated, but
frustration is a bad thing… It caught me by surprise when he said,
‘Stand up.’ I don’t remember him giving me any warnings… I have
never heard of anyone being stood up from mount or from someone’s
back… But I clearly lost focus, I was clearly frustrated, and I got
caught with some shots afterward.”

Despite his anger toward Miragliotta, Moicano said he would not
file an appeal with the Nevada Athletic Commission. Instead, he
blamed himself for failing to finish Nolan.

“I want him to go f*ck himself, him and everyone else,” Moicano
added. “I don’t give a sh*t. The next person I need to blame is
myself. I should have finished that guy. That’s the truth. I’m
better than that guy, but he defended well… I’m not going to blame
the referee… I’m not going to file any complaint.”

Moicano has lost three of his last four bouts. Nolan, meanwhile,
has won six straight since suffering his lone professional defeat
in his UFC debut in 2024.
