Erosa’s retirement just got sweeter as the mixed martial artist
was one of four fighters who earned a $100,000 performance bonus at
UFC Vegas 123.
Erosa was an easy pick for one of the
Ultimate Fighting Championship’s four „performance of the
night“ bonuses, capping off a storybook ending for the Octagon
veteran. Erosa (32-13) survived an early scare from Jeong Yeong
Lee and landed a picture-perfect right hand that knocked out
his opponent. The stoppage by „Juicy J“ arrived just 91 seconds
into the fight, which caps off a lengthy career that saw Erosa pick
up wins against the likes of Darren
Elkins, Charles
Jourdain and Sean
Woodson.
Prelim winners Lucia
Szabova and Joe Kropschot also took home performance bonuses
worth $100K. The undefeated Szabova (11-0) was dominant against
Tainara
Lisboa and ended the fight
with some brutal ground-and-pound. Meanwhile, Kropschot (10-3)
tapped out opponent Nick Klein
with a slick armbar in the second round of their middleweight
bout.
Finally, main event winner Tom Nolan
received an extra $100,000 for his TKO win over Renato
Carneiro. Despite the bonus, the victory came with a lot of
controversy attached after referee Dan Miragliotta stood up the
fight while „Moicano“ had the back of the Australian. Nolan took
advantage of the situation, hurting Carneiro with a knee shortly
afterward and eventually
getting a stoppage in the third round.
