Manel
Kape believes he has identified weaknesses in Joshua Van’s
game that could help him finish the
Ultimate Fighting Championship flyweight champion at UFC
336.
Kape (23-7) will challenge Van (18-2) for the 125-pound title on
Jan. 30, 2027, at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. The Angolan
contender enters the matchup on a four-fight finishing streak and
expects to dictate the pace against the champion.

Manel Kape says Joshua Van’s inexperience leaves openings he
can exploit in their UFC flyweight title fight
Speaking to MMA Junkie, Kape
acknowledged Van’s boxing ability and durability but argued that
the champion makes mistakes that previous opponents have failed to
exploit.
“The game plan is very easy,” Kape said. “I know a lot of mistakes
he had for the lack of experience, for not being too long in this
sport, and I just think that so many guys didn’t exploit that.”
Kape believes he can compete with Van in boxing exchanges while
also preventing the champion from settling into a brawl.
“I can see things that can make me going for the finish early than
I expect,” Kape said. “So, I’m definitely going to surprise him,
and then I can tell it’s going to be frustrating because he likes
to have these brawl fights.”
“Starboy” is confident he can control the tempo of their
exchanges.
“We’re not going to get to that position because I’m going to
dictate the pace,” Kape said. “I’m going to dictate when we should
go brawl, when we should go slow, and then when I can change the
tempo of the fight.”
Kape also warned Van against becoming overconfident after capturing
the belt, claiming he has the edge in both experience and
skill.
