Gregory Foster defeats Jason Asher at DWCS as Dana White wishes
hospitalized mother Barbara a speedy recovery
Foster started fast, dropping Asher with a right hand before Asher
answered with a spinning backfist that floored him. After a
competitive second round, Asher took Foster down in the third and
landed ground strikes that opened a cut above Foster’s right
eye.
Despite the difficult final round, Foster was thrilled with his
performance.
“Super happy, very proud of myself, very proud of my team,” Foster
said in a postfight interview. “And I knew I was gonna come here
and put on a f*cking show.”
He then discussed his mother, who he said was recovering in the
hospital after a “really bad” car accident. Foster said she was
watching from her hospital room on her birthday, making the victory
especially meaningful.
White wished Foster’s mother a happy birthday and a speedy recovery
while awarding him a contract.
“Greg, happy birthday to Barbara and hope she gets well soon,”
White said. “The pace you set tonight, the shots you landed, the
shots you took, you opened the show the way I love the show to be
opened. And I’ve never been this excited to see a 34-year-old come
into the UFC. Congratulations.”
