that he injured his knee on the first day of
UFC Belgrade fight week.

Uros Medic suffered a meniscus injury during UFC Belgrade fight
week

Medic was able to pop his knee back into place, but it soon began
to swell. He recalled the stressful ordeal in a recent interview
with MMA Junkie.

“We were just warming up and my knee popped out of place,” Medic
said. “I was like, ‘Whoa, what is this?’ I didn’t feel any pain and
I tried to straighten my leg out and it popped back in. And I could
feel right away it started to fill with liquid, started to
swell.”

Medic was diagnosed with a meniscus injury but declined medication,
instead undergoing tissue work to reduce the swelling. As the
Serbian-American limped through fight week, he hoped word of his
injury wouldn’t leak. Medic ultimately made it to the Octagon,
where he needed just 30 seconds to dispatch Rodriguez and earn a
$100,000 performance bonus.

“We go to the P.I., get checked up, see what’s happening, and
they’re like, ‘Looks like your ACL is fine, looks most likely like
a meniscus injury,’” Medic added. “I just said, ‘Let’s not dig into
this too much, if you guys can do anything for me to be able to
walk and run … I’m not gonna take any medication or nothing.’ So
they just did deep tissue work, soft tissue work, just trying to
get as much fluid out as possible … It really helped me. I went
into fight week limping, and I was begging God to not let people
see me limping. This week was the fight; the fight itself was just
routine work for me.”

Medic (14-3) is expected to undergo a noninvasive procedure for the
knee injury and anticipates recovering within a month. The
33-year-old, who has never gone to the judges’ scorecards as a
professional, is currently riding a four-fight winning streak, with
all four victories coming via first-round knockout.
