After over a month away, the
Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to Las Vegas for
UFC Vegas 106.

Headlining the 12-fight card is a fight between former welterweight
title challenger Gilbert
Burns and rising contender Michael
Morales. Both men successfully came in under the 171-pound
limit for the five-round main event. All other fighters also made
their contracted weights for the card.
The fight is a must-win for Burns (22-8) if he hopes to stay a
relevant figure in the division. „Durinho“ has stacked up three
straight losses, albeit to the best of the best in Belal
Muhammad, Jack
Della Maddalena and Sean Brady.
The 38-year-old Brazilian will look to show he has more left in the
tank by handing his opponent the first loss of his career. Burns
stepped in the scale at 170 pounds on the dot.
This marks the first UFC main event for Morales. Undefeated as a
pro, the 17-0 fighter is coming off impressive wins over Neil Magny,
Jake
Matthews and Max Griffin.
This marks a major step up in competition for the 25-year-old
fighter, though, as the Ecuadorian has never fought a top contender
in the division. Morales officially weighed 170.5 pounds for his
biggest fight to date.
UFC Vegas 106 will air in its entirety on ESPN+ on Saturday.
Prelims begin at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT, while the main card starts at
7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
