Carlos
Ulberg padded his bank account at Alonzo
Menifield’s expense.
The City Kickboxing standout earned a $50,000 “Performance of the
Night” bonus for a 12-second technical knockout victory in a
featured light heavyweight pairing at UFC
on ESPN 56 at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis on Saturday.
Ulberg took advantage of his opponent’s reckless approach,
ultimately sealing his victory with a clean left hand during a
furious exchange.
Elsewhere, Diego
Ferreira garnered the card’s other $50,000 “Performance of the
Night” award for his come-from-behind triumph against Mateusz
Rebecki at lightweight. After getting dropped in the opening
stanza, Ferreira gradually took control, ultimately finishing his
Polish adversary with ground-and-pound at the 4:51 mark of Round
3.
Finally, Trey Waters
and Billy Goff
received “Fight of the Night” honors and $50,000 apiece for their
welterweight slugfest on the preliminary card. While both
combatants traded willingly throughout the bout, Waters’ proved to
be the more impactful striker, ultimately earning a unanimous
decision on the judges’ scorecards.
