The
Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to ESPN airwaves for its
first event of August.

The 12-fight
UFC on ESPN 50 card is now official after the weigh-ins took
place. The main event is a 140-pound catchweight battle between
bantamweight contenders Cory
Sandhagen and Rob Font, who
both made weight. „The Sandman“ was initially set to face Umar
Nurmagomedov, although an injury to the Dagestani fighter led
to Font (20-6) accepting the fight on short notice. All fighters on
the card made weight except for late-notice replacement Dennis
Buzukja, who came in .5 pounds over the featherweight
limit.

The surging Sandhagen (16-4) has turned a corner since back-to-back
defeats to T.J.
Dillashaw and Petr Yan. In
his last two main event fights, the Colorado native picked up a
stoppage win over Yadong Song
and took a split decision over Marlon Vera.
He’ll look to extend his win streak to three in a row. The
Elevation Fight Team fighter stepped on the scale weighing 139.5
pounds.

Meanwhile, Font recently snapped a two-fight losing streak by
picking up a TKO win over Adrian
Yanez. The 36-year-old has a chance to cement himself once
again as one of the division’s top fighters with an upset win.
Prior to losses to Vera and Jose Aldo,
Font had won four straight fights. Font officially weighed 139
pounds.

UFC on ESPN 50 will air in its entirety on ESPN and ESPN+. Prelims
begin at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT, while the main card starts at 9 p.m.
ET/6 p.m. PT.
