Round 1

Kicking off this first-ever UFC card on Halloween is what could be
a wild bantamweight scrap between two Legacy Fighting Alliance
vets, as Johns (10-1, 1-1 UFC) welcomes “Quicksand” Natividad (9-1,
0-0 UFC) to the Octagon. There is an important rule change to
clarify: the Nevada State Athletic Commission is implementing new
replay rules, where a designated official outside of the cage can
signal to the referee that the bout should be paused and something
should be reviewed. This replay can be used any time throughout the
bouts, and they can be restarted immediately after. That referee
inside the cage will be Chris Tognoni for this one, and with no
touch of gloves, we are underway. Both men are quick on the balls
of their feet, hopping back and forth as they try to find their
angle in the early going. Johns opens up with a sweeping calf kick,
and Natividad tries and fails to respond with a one-two. Johns
evades it and an oncoming jab, only to step in to score a left
hand. The Fortis MMA fighter presses forward to pursue a takedown,
and Natividad stands him up with his back to the fence. Natividad
pushes him off and sticks out a jab a few times, walking Johns down
to the fence. “Chapo” returns fire with a sharp jab that makes
Natividad retreat, and another gets Natividad’s attention.
Natividad steps in to attack, but a quick check hook from Johns
catches him on the chin. They proceed to traded hooks and low
kicks, and Johns gets the better of the exchange and ends their
flurry with two long left hands. Johns pushes out a lead leg front
kick, and chains it into a single leg takedown. Natividad springs
back up without effort, and tries to make Johns pay with a flying
knee but it is no avail. The two continue to go strike for strike,
and Johns throws a naked leg kick and gets popped with an overhand
right counter. Natividad rushes in to continue his assault, and
Johns transitions into a takedown and grounds Natividad briefly.
The Hawaiian out of Arizona powers out of the position and wings a
few punches, and one or two clang off the dome to make Johns reset.
Johns fires off a few jabs, and Natividad sits down on his punches
and bounces off the guard of his opponent. Johns’ jab is accurate
and effective, stifling Natividad’s oncoming aggression. They crash
together when Johns leaps in the air, and the round ends.

Round 2

The two elect to touch gloves at the beginning of this round, and
he pushes out a jab only to have Natividad try to give him one
back. Johns stabs his toes in his opponent’s midsection, and he
protects his face from the swinging strikes of Natividad. The
newcomer rips the body at the end of a right hand, and Johns rolls
with a subsequent strike to keep out his jab before turning the
corner for a takedown attempt. “Chapo” gets Natividad down for the
briefest of moments, but Natividad jumps back up like he had
springs in his heels. Johns recommits for a double leg takedown as
he bullies Natividad on the cage wall, and gets off a few knees to
the thigh all the while. Defending himself with his back mashed
against the fence, Natividad gets off a few short elbows to the
side of the head, and Tognoni separates the two due to inaction.
Johns flicks out his jab to back off the charging Natividad, but
Natividad does manage to connect with a few heavy shots. The two
men trade quick jabs, and Johns stays elusive and avoids a flying
knee that zooms past his head. One heavy jab from Johns stops
Natividad in his tracks, and “Quicksand” is stunned and needs a
moment to gather his thoughts. In the meantime, Johns chops down
his opponent’s lead leg. Johns stays sharp with jabs to break up
potential combinations, and he sees a takedown coming his direction
from a mile away. Johns stuffs it, and when Natividad tries to
break, Johns delays and spins with a thudding back fist that
clatters off the guard and still shakes up Natividad. Johns presses
forward with a takedown attempt, and although he cannot secure it
before the round ends, he does manage to stifle his opponent to the
bell.

Round 3

The gloves are touched as the final round begins, and Natividad
leaps forward to attack. Johns is quick to get his jab started,
which blunts the swinging strikes that come at his face. Natividad
winds up on power punches and Johns sees the majority of them, but
one heavy right hand stings Johns. Johns catches Natividad charging
in, but Natividad rips him with another powerful right hook. The
two both land single heavy shots, and Johns ends his own salvo with
a leg kick. Natividad works his way forward with his own jab, but
Johns cracks him with his piston-like jab to get him off of him.
Natividad is on the warpath, letting loose big right hands in rapid
succession, and Johns shoulder rolls to defend, hacks the leg with
a kick or releases a jab. Natividad overcommits on a strike, and
Johns ducks down to hunt for a takedown. Turning it from a single
to a double, Johns cannot land it as Natividad stays strong, and
Natividad considers a submission with his back to the fence.
Natividad abandons the submission and looks to push
off, but Johns targets a lethal right uppercut on the break. The
punch lands as flush on the jaw as it possibly can, ejecting
Natividad’s mouthpiece and separating the newcomer from his
consciousness.
There is no need for a follow-up, as Natividad
falls lifelessly to the ground like a puppet whose strings had been
cut. What a highlight reel knockout for Johns, who starts the night
off in devastating fashion.

The Official Result

Miles Johns def. Kevin Natividad R3 2:51 via KO (Punch)

Round 1

For the first time since 2012, Jacoby (12-5, 0-2 UFC) will set foot
inside the UFC cage, doing so at light heavyweight against the
struggling Ledet (9-3, 1 NC; 3-3 UFC). This early preliminary
headliner will be officiated by referee Chris Tognoni again, and
the two show a sign of respect by touching gloves. Jacoby begins by
leading off with a series of kicks to the body and leg of his
opponent. Ledet walks through them all and tries to land shots, but
Jacoby hurts him with a leg kick, body kick and overhand right
combination. Ledet keeps his bearings, but Jacoby continues to spam
kicks. Ledet slips and lands a left hand, and both get off body
kicks. Jacoby attacks the lead leg, and Ledet greets him with a
trio of jabs. Ledet, with success from those jabs, follows the last
one with a big right hand that catches off the chin of Jacoby.
Jacoby cracks the leg with a calf kick, and Ledet stands firm and
cracks Jacoby with two hard one-two combinations. Jacoby chops the
lead leg hard, and Ledet winces. Smelling blood, Jacoby goes back
to it, and this time Ledet is wearing it. One more hacking leg kick
puts Ledet down. Jacoby hops on top and starts raining down
punches, but “El Blanco” manages to power his way to his feet with
his back to the fence. Jacoby continues to throw with reckless abandon at
Ledet, and a right straight followed by a hard right uppercut – the
same strike that ended the last fight – puts Ledet down for the
count.
Tognoni dives in to rescue the destroyed Ledet, and
Jacoby has now won his first-ever UFC fight after making his
initial UFC debut in 2011.

The Official Result

Dustin Jacoby def. Justin Ledet R1 2:38 via TKO (Punches)

Round 1

In both of his UFC appearances, Williams (11-2, 0-1 UFC) has missed
the welterweight mark by a wide margin – he comes in against “The
Vanilla Gorilla” Witt (17-6, 0-1 UFC) at a whopping 175.5 pounds.
Serving as the referee for this unexpected catchweight contest is
referee Mark Smith. Williams marches forward, and Witt ducks down
to grab his opponent’s leg and lifts him in the air. Witt slams
Williams down, and quickly takes his back. Witt wraps his arm
around the neck for a rear-naked choke, but Witt’s other arm is
trapped under Williams’ elbow. Witt gets his hooks in, and Williams
turns around to wind up on his back as Witt takes half guard.
Williams manages to get him back to full guard, but “The Vanilla
Gorilla” starts ripping elbows and punches while on top. Witt
slowly and methodically breaks his opponent down with hammerfists
and punches, and a few elbows to follow are doing some damage.
Williams flails to defend himself but he is stuck with his back on
the ground and his neck pressed against the fence, all while Witt
keeps slamming him in the face with strikes. More punches and
elbows get through Williams’ guard, and Witt is completely
comfortable staying in guard while unleashing heavy
ground-and-pound. A sharp elbow slashes open a cut above Williams’
left eye, and it starts gushing to present a true, gruesome
Halloween visage. Witt keeps targeting it and dropping down more
punches and elbows, and Williams tries to tie him up with a rubber
guard until the round ends. The doctor immediately comes in to
check on it, but it does not appear to be in a fight-ending
position.

Sherdog Scores

Jay Pettry scores the round: 10-8 Witt
Tristen Critchfield scores the round: 10-8 Witt
Tyler Treese scores the round: 10-8 Witt

Round 2

Williams opens up the second round with a grin and a big kick, and
Witt returns fire with an overhand right. Williams is loose and has
his hands low, stalking Witt down and stuffing a potential
takedown. Witt shoots in from across the cage, and he lifts
Williams in the air and runs him across the cage like Matt Hughes,
slamming him down by his corner. Witt lands in three-quarter mount,
and lands a few strikes before stepping over with ease into mount.
Williams turns around and gives up his back, and like a snake, Witt
is on him setting up a rear-naked choke. The blood is flowing so
heavily that Witt cannot secure it, and instead Williams slides out
but is still mounted. Witt cracks him with some heavy punches on top, but
opts to sneak over to the side where he lines up an arm-triangle
choke. The choke is tight as can be, as Williams immediately
prepares to surrender. A few seconds tick off the clock, and there
is no way out for “Havoc,” so he taps out before he passes out.

This was complete one-way traffic for Witt, who barely absorbed
more than five strikes en route to an impressive and dominant
finish victory.

The Official Result

Jason Witt def. Cole Williams R2 2:09 via Submission (Arm-Triangle
Choke)

Round 1

Returning from a major motorcycle accident that kept him out of
action for just over two years, Strickland (20-3, 7-3 UFC) makes
his return to the promotion against hard-hitting Welshman Marshman
(23-9, 3-4 UFC). Drawing the assignment for this catchweight bout –
Marshman eclipsed the 186-pound limit by a pound and a half – is
referee Keith Peterson, who will tolerate no nonsense in the cage
tonight. They touch gloves, and Marshman throws out a leg kick to
start things off. Strickland walks the Welshman down, and starts
landing a series of one-twos to get Marshman to retreat. Marshman
returns fire with a leg kick and an overhand right, but Strickland
completely ignores it as he plods forward. Strickland slaps at the
lead leg of his opponent, and he reaches in with a left hand and
ducks back to avoid the looping shot from the Welshman. Marshman
gets jabbed in the face, and Strickland follows it with a crisp
one-two. Marshman tries to bomb him with some big shots, and
Strickland rolls with then and fires back. Strickland checks a leg
kick, and he starts to work a long left jab. Marshman commits to
power strikes, but none are landing flush as Strickland’s are
straighter and quicker in and out. Strickland sticks him with a
right hand, and Marshman nearly gives him one back but it does not
have full steam on it. Strickland gets off a right hand, and then a
one-two makes Marshman back off to gather his thoughts. Strickland
nails him with a leg kick, and Marshman responds with one of his
own but he takes a jab at the end of it. Strickland marches forward
with long strikes, unconcerned with Marshman’s wide shots.
Strickland checks another leg kick, and he makes Marshman reach at
him by staying just the end of his punches. A jab to a right hand
stings Marshman, and Strickland follows it with a lengthy
combination that pins Marshman to the cage. The Welshman defends
himself but eats a plethora of shots, and he circles away as he
cannot put strikes to get to get Strickland off of him. Marshman
paws with a leg kick, and Strickland boots him in the chest. When
Strickland puts his leg down, Marshman clocks him with a huge right
hook, stunning “Tarzan” with his biggest shot of the round.
Strickland gathers his thoughts and walks his man down until the
horn ends the round.

Sherdog Scores

Tyler Treese scores the round: 10-9 Strickland

Round 2

The two middleweights touch gloves, and Strickland starts off where
he left off by putting Marshman on his back foot with long punches.
Strickland clicks a left hand off the brow, and Marshman starts to
follow the work of his opponent by reaching out with a few long
left hands to the head and body. Marshman targets the body again,
and he flicks out a jab. Strickland uses a double jab to pop
Marshman on the chops, and a right hand comes around to catch
Marshman on the jaw. Strickland disrupts Marshman’s winging shots
with jabs, and occasionally he will reach with his right after
landing the left for a very effective one-two that bloodies up the
Welshman. Strickland’s accuracy is sky high as he is working
Marshman over with his jab and sporadic kicks, and Marshman makes
him pay with a combination by ripping the body with a left hand.
Marshman jabs to the body a few times, and Strickland cracks him
with a few stiff left hands that make Marshman try to shake it out.
The Welshman gets his bearings about him, and when he swings and
misses, Strickland nails him with another one-two. Strickland
blocks a few jabs to the midsection and tattoos Marshman’s face
with his own jabs, and they are starting to damage the nose as
Marshman begins to check it. Marshman swings and misses with a leg
kick, and Strickland is loose and sticks and moves him. Marshman is
active trying to line up a big right hand, but Strickland dances
out of the way. The two come together to land a few heavy shots,
and Marshman is winding up with a right hand but is just out of
range. Two left hands from Marshman find their mark, and Strickland
pushes him off with a front kick. He pushes out another to the
torso, and a right hand breaks up the leaping flurry from Marshman
as the round ends.

Round 3

One final glove touch checks in the last round, and Strickland
races forward as he flicks out a few jabs and a right hand that
folds the nose of his opponent. Marshman double jabs his way in to
the body, and he tries again but Strickland sees it coming and paws
it away. Marshman goes after the same combination, and Strickland
laughs at him and tells him to stand in the center of the cage and
fight. Marshman obliges, and the two start trading wildly in a
brawl. Strickland is able to get the better of the exchanges by
being quicker to the punch, but a few Marshman shots have marked up
Strickland’s face. Marshman swings and misses, and Strickland goads
him on by saying “Come on, Jack.” Both men start trading heavy
leather, and Strickland is telling Marshman to throw with “full
power.” Marshman tries to unload with heavy shots, but Strickland
sticks him with a right hand and evades the follow-up. Strickland
nails Marshman with some huge punches, and he shouts “Why won’t you
fall?” Strickland keeps landing virtually at-will, and Marshman
stands right in front of him and slugs right back. Strickland clips
him with a right hand, and Marshman’s wobble. Strickland is fired
up and telling Marshman to give it everything he has, and he cracks
Marshman in the head. Marshman stands strong and Strickland tells
him to fall down, but instead Marshman races in with a few punches.
The Welshman puts together a chain of punches, and Strickland
dodges most of them but a few get in. Strickland tells Marshman
that he will give him a chance to win, if Marshman goes hard. They
stand in front of each other and start brawling recklessly and
wildly, and Strickland spins with a back kick. The two trade and
land, all while Strickland urges Marshman to empty his gas tank in
one final slugfest. They swing right to the final bell, and then
embrace after a hard-fought but tactical battle.

Fury FC and LFA vet Yanez (11-3, 0-0 UFC) gets his long-awaited
call up to the UFC at bantamweight, and he will meet fellow
newcomer and Alaska native Rodriguez (5-2, 0-0 UFC), with the
latter posting a few wins on his record that have not been
verified. The Octagon ranger for this potentially exciting scrap is
referee Herb Dean, and there is no gloves touch as these two want
to get right down to it. Yanez lines up a left hand, but Rodriguez
shoots in for a takedown. Yanez defends it and rolls his eyes,
getting his feet back beneath him before fighting off another and
landing a knee. Yanez spins him about, only to get pinned back to
the fence once more, and a few heavy knees ring off Rodriguez’
forehead. Yanez pushes off and sticks out a front kick, and
Rodriguez winds up with a huge right hand. Rodriguez follows the
overhand right with a takedown attempt, and Yanez blocks it and
pushes off. Rodriguez tries to do this same thing again, but Yanez
sees it coming and stops it. Yanez clips him with a right hand, and
Rodriguez is hurt. Yanez cracks him with another straight right
hand and Rodriguez is not taking these strikes well. Yanez drops
him with a right hand, and Rodriguez bites down on his mouthpiece
and tags Yanez on the chin. Yanez tosses Rodriguez to the ground,
and the Alaskan springs back to his feet. Yanez chases after him
with a few heavy punches that collide with his opponent’s chin, and
Rodriguez holds himself up from falling over by interlocking his
fingers in the fence. When Rodriguez stands still to get his bearings,
Yanez winds up and takes his left foot and whops Rodriguez on the
side of his face…and there’s not a darn thing that Rodriguez can do
about it, as he crumples to the ground, out cold.
What a way
for Yanez to make his UFC debut.

Round 1

Capping off the preliminary portion of the event – even though the
entire card airs on ESPN+ from start to finish – is a lightweight
battle when “Gritz” Gruetzemacher (14-3, 2-2 UFC) makes a return
from a lengthy layoff to face Hernandez (11-3, 3-2 UFC). The
referee in charge of this bout is Mark Smith, and the two 155ers
don’t touch gloves to start the match, so Gruetzemacher kicks him
on the leg a few times. Hernandez throws a kick back low, and then
flings a head kick. The two men keep landing leg kicks one another
at a distance, and Hernandez gets off a right hand at the end of a
combination. Gruetzemacher walks through it and the two continues
to ding each other with leg kicks. Hernandez clips Gruetzemacher
with a one-two, and then another makes “Gritz” take a quick count
of his teeth. Gruetzemacher marches forward as he pushes out a jab,
and Hernandez nails him with a right hand. Gruetzemacher ducks
down, and Hernandez boots him in the face with a kick, but the
Arizona native wears it well. Hernandez hurts him with a left hand,
and Gruetzemacher wobbles and falls across the fence. Hernandez
pours it on sensing that Gruetzemacher might be hurt. “Alexander the Great” chains together several
punches that all land hard on the chin, and one final uppercut
shuts the lights out and sends Gruetzemacher crashing to the canvas
in a heap.
This was a spectacular display for Hernandez, who
put on a show and recorded a big finish in less than two minutes,
all while scoring the first knockout against the durable
Gruetzemacher.

Round 1

Remaining in the lightweight division as we begin the main card,
Green (27-10-1, 8-5-1 UFC) looks to become the first UFC fighter to
win four times this year as he squares off against Contender Series
Brazil prospect Moises (13-4, 2-2 UFC). Our sans-nonsense referee
is Keith Peterson, and there is no glove touch commences the
hostilities. Instead, Moises kicks him in the leg, and Green walks
back with his hands by his waist. Green takes a head kick that is
barely blocked, and he shakes his head at his opponent. The
Brazilian throws with a heavy leg kick, and when he tries to land
another, Green picks his leg up and rushes in with punches. Moises
flings a head kick that glances off the dome, and Green shrugs at
him but still has his hands low. Green blocks a head kick, slips a
punch and walks Moises down to land a few punches. “King” starts
letting loose a few kicks to the knee, and he ducks out of the way
to avoid an overhand right. Moises spins with a back kick, but
Green darts out of danger and mean mugs Moises. The two land big
looping punches, and Green appears to be surprised long enough to
allow Moises to grab hold of him. The Brazilian lifts him up and
slams him to the ground, where in a scramble, Moises takes Green’s
back. Green slides him off and threatens with a kimura when Moises
is on his back, but he gives up on it when Moises sits up. Moises
gets back to his feet and his neck is exposed in potential
guillotine choke danger, but he ignores it as he walks away and
breaks. Green sticks and moves, landing a sharp left hand and a
pair of stomping kicks to the knee. Green backs away only to leap
forward and connect with a right hand. Moises pushes him off with a
front kick, and Green’s hands-down approach is allowing Moises to
land a few times. Moises cracks him hard with a right hand, and
Green claims there was an eye poke but it is not called, so Moises
rushes in to attack. The Brazilian gets off a few hard punches, but
Green rolls out and gets his bearings about him. Green targets the
body with a long punch, and he backs off to avoid a left hand.
Green keeps beating up the lead knee with kicks, and Moises stays
composed and winds up with a right hand. Green sees it coming and
lets fly a few more kicks. Green darts in with a couple punches,
and the round ends in the middle of a Green blitz.

Round 2

The two lightweights touch gloves, and Green starts off kicking the
knee again. Moises flings a few looping punches, and Green uses
Matrix-like head movement to avoid each one. Moises lets loose a
head kick that gets blocked, and when Green backs away, he sticks
Moises with a stern right hand that might have rattle the
Brazilian. Green fights his way into a takedown attempt, and he
pulls his neck out of guillotine danger to sweep the leg and drop
Moises on his back. Green lands a few elbows and punches on top,
but Moises walks his way to his feet as he ignores them. The
Brazilian manages to circle around and take Green’s back, where he
sets up an inverted heel hook. Green is stuck and tries to twist
and turn, kicking off to break the grip. Moises is still locked in
but Green gives it everything he has to push off and hop back to
his feet. Moises backs away and takes a few punches, and Green is
on him as he senses Moises may have spent a lot of energy going
after the finish. Green targets the body and head indiscriminately,
and Moises is forced to turtle up against the cage. “King” wades
forward to land a step-in elbow, and he backs away to pick at
Moises and work the body effectively. Moises swings and misses with
a massive right hook, and he tries to string together a combination
punctuated with a head kick. Green blocks it and rolls with the
punches, and motions to Moises that he has nothing on him. When
Green rushes in to strike, Moises attempts to grab hold of him, but
Green pushes off and lands a few punches. Moises zings a left hook
that flies over Green’s head, and a leg kick from Moises gets
checked as Green sticks his tongue out at him. Green steps back to
watch a spinning wheel kick zoom by his face, and Green lands a few
punches while blocking a pair of big right hands coming his way.
Green takes part of one of those right hooks, and he jumps in the
air with a flying knee. After he rolls with a big right hand,
Moises sends one more at him that only partially connects before
the round concludes.

Round 3

The glove touch opens the final round, and Green pushes a kick away
only to stomp the knee again. Green throws a naked leg kick, and
just barely ducks a speedy left hook. Green keeps his leg kicks
going while staying out of harm’s way from the big punches coming
from the Brazilian. Moises lands a clean right hook, and Green
shakes his head at him. Green’s hands still down, the two come
together to throw winging shots. Moises lands a left hand and
points at Green, but Green ignores him to walk in with a jab and a
leg kick. Green pushes off with a kick to the torso as Moises bears
down on him, and he moves away from the blistering right hook that
is mere inches from his face. A strike or two that does land for
Moises opens up a cut above Green’s right eye, and Green sticks and
moves on the outside when Moises tries to charge at him. Green
points up and kicks low, and he ducks a head kick with ease. Green
presses forward into the clinch, and he sets the Brazilian down
only to have Moises spring back up and turn him around. Moises
shoots low for a takedown, and Green tries to defend with a kimura
sweep but ends up falling to his back. “King” gets to a knee and
starts throwing no-look elbows and punches that do land, but Moises
gets a hook in and holds on to Green’s back. Green nearly reverses
position a few times, but Moises is on him like Saran wrap. Green
gives it everything he has to power out of the position, and Moises
starts throwing heavy leather at him. Green gets tagged with a left
hand, and he picks and pokes at Moises from a distance while the
Brazilian spins with a back fist. Moises nearly falls over in his
attack, and Green lands a few prodding strikes until the round
ends. This may be a very close one.

Looking to do what Green could not in win for the fourth time
inside the Octagon in 2020 is “Trailblazer” Holland (19-5, 6-2 UFC)
who meets short-notice replacement and Fury FC staple Ontiveros
(11-6, 0-0 UFC). The referee for this middleweight clash is Mark
Smith, and Holland thanks his opponent for taking the fight by
offering a touch of gloves. Holland races in to attack, and he
falls over coming so recklessly. Ontiveros lets loose an axe kick,
and Holland mocks him for throwing that strike. Holland picks up
the newcomer and slams him down, where he lands in side control and
starts dropping down elbows as Ontiveros has a hold of his neck.
Ontiveros is briefly in Von Preux danger, but Holland takes
north-south position and starts punching the side of Ontiveros’
head and body. Holland rains down some clacking elbows on
Ontiveros, and the newcomer tries to buck him off but is trapped on
his back in side control. Holland grinds his elbow on the face of
his opponent, and Ontiveros spins out and stands back up. Holland takes his back, trips his leg out and
smashes Ontiveros down hard. Holland looks to set up some sort of
submission but Ontiveros may be out cold or hurt badly from the
slam. Holland motions to Smith that Ontiveros is hurt, and
Ontiveros moans or cries out, prompting Smith to intervene and stop
the fight by verbal submission.
The finishing sequence is
unclear, whether the impact of the slam put Ontiveros out or hurt
him in some way. Holland gets up to celebrate, and he starts
calling out champ Israel Adesanya in the audience. Meanwhile,
Ontiveros is still down, and he will need be stretchered out. We
hope he makes a full recovery, from the potential neck injury that
Holland claims his fallen opponent mentioned. After the fight, UFC
President Dana White informed the broadcast team that Ontiveros has
full feeling and movement of all of his extremities.

Round 1

In the lone heavyweight bout of the evening, and one that very
nearly in the realm of super heavyweight as Hardy (6-2, 1 NC; 3-2,
1 NC UFC) clocked in on the scales at 266.5 pounds on his first
attempt, Hardy faces “The Crochet Boss” Greene (9-4, 4-2 UFC) in a
clash to potentially suss out a future contender. This 514.5-pound
affair will be overseen by referee Herb Dean, and they opt to touch
gloves. Greene stays on the outside and throws a leg kick, and
Hardy shrugs and responds with one, and then another. Greene swings
and misses with a leg kick, and both push out jabs but cannot land
them. Hardy catches a kick and puts Greene down with a right hand
like Anderson Silva against James Irvin. Greene falls to his back
and eats a barrage of ground strikes, but fires off some upkicks to
get Hardy to reconsider his attack. Hardy climbs on top and pushes
past a potential submission attempt to press Greene on the ground
in half guard, and he drops down heavy clubbing punches. Greene
ties him up to prevent the strikes from causing much damage, and
Hardy pushes on Greene’s face to try to posture up. Hardy cracks
him with an elbow to break the grip momentarily, but Greene locks
him back down again. Hardy manages to sit up and starts smacking up
with strikes, but Greene pushes him off and is allowed to stand
back up. Both men whiff on leg kicks and sound like they are
breathing hard after three minutes of combat, and Hardy counters a
body kick with an overhand right. Hardy walks him down and kicks
the leg before winging an overhand right, only to throw a body kick
and miss with another punch. Green misses with a head kick, and he
plants a step-in knee on Hardy’s chest when Hardy comes at him.
Hardy misses with a booming right hand, but he sinks a leg kick in
to make Greene react. Hardy lands another on the other side, and
Greene switches stances to try to avoid these strikes. Both men get
off low kicks, and Greene clacks a one-two off the former football
star’s face. Hardy chases after him, only to take a leg kick and a
right hand on the way in. The round ends as the two big men clinch
up.

Round 2

Before the round begins, Dean admonishes Hardy for gouging Greene’s
eyes on top, when Hardy was pushing on Greene’s face. The round
clocks in as both men kick one another. Greene nearly times a right
hand counter as Hardy charges in, but “The Prince of War” avoids it
and slams his leg into the back of Greene’s knee. Greene swings and misses with a head kick, and
Hardy eats a jab to smash Greene in the face with a left
uppercut-jab. Greene clatters to the ground and absorbs a plethora
of punishment, but he gets to his knees. Hardy keeps punching and
Greene rolls over, leading Dean to call a halt to the contest.

Greene immediately protests the stoppage, which could be considered
premature. He yells to Dean that he was moving, and that he was not
hurt, but his cries fall on deaf ears as the fight is over.

Round 1

The co-main event comes in the form of a likely fast-paced
featherweight tilt when Mitchell (13-0, 4-0 UFC) tries to stay
undefeated against Team Alpha Male staple Fili (21-7, 9-6 UFC).
Nonsense has left the building, as referee Keith Peterson will
preside over this potential thriller. A small nod to Reebok for
finally making custom gear at the tail end of their apparel deal
clocks in the contest, as there is no glove touch. Both men come
out swinging, and Fili lands a few punches right on the nose and
narrowly avoids eating a hook kick. Mitchell rushes in to grab a
single leg, and Fili powers back up; a second attempt from Mitchell
puts the Californian on his back. Mitchell ties up the legs on top
as Fili scrambles, and a possible sweep allows him to get back up,
but not for long. Fili gives up mount, and he bucks like a bronco
to kick off the Arkansas native off of him. Fili spins out and gets
himself free from a back take, but Mitchell latches on like an
Alabama tick and wrenches him back down to the canvas. Mitchell
tries to line up some ground strikes, and he gets off a few punches
on top until Fili twists and turns to get out of this danger.
Mitchell advances to side control as he grinds his elbow on Fili’s
face, but Fili stands up in the position. Mitchell stays on like a
backpack and drags Fili down, where he assumes mount position. Fili
is flat on his back, and he takes a few elbows on the chin until he
kicks Mitchell away, but only briefly. Mitchell springs over to
mount again, and he sits up to punch Fili in the face a few times.
The Team Alpha Male fighter tries to keep his man off of him, but
gets mounted once more. Fili spins in a scramble, and he gets on
top. Standing up, Fili tries to drop down a few long punches, but
he decides he wants the fight standing instead. Mitchell crashes in
seeking a takedown, and Fili times a knee but it does not matter,
as Mitchell scoops him up and slams him down. Fili ties him up but
eats a few punches to end the round.

Round 2

Fili comes out firing, and he absorbs a left hand and a kick to the
body. Mitchell clips Fili with a left hand, but the California
native stands strong and is ready for the takedown to come.
Mitchell brings it, and Fili stuffs it and dances out of the way to
take the center of the cage. Mitchell clubs Fili on the side of the
head with a right hand while Fili expects a takedown, and Mitchell
sticks him and moves. Fili jabs him and steps out of the way of a
leg kick, but he does absorb a jab on the nose. Fili times a flying
knee when Mitchell crashes in, and “Thug Nasty” may be hurt but
keeping a good poker face as he is retreating. Fili starts picking
at Mitchell from a distance, landing several left hands and backing
Mitchell up. Mitchell scores a right hand and pushes in for a
takedown, leading to Fili defending with a guillotine choke as his
back is on the fence. Mitchell cannot secure the double, and Fili
shoves him away. Mitchell throws out a low kick and eats a right
hand on the jaw. When Mitchell attempts a head kick, Fili shrugs it
off and again cracks him with a right. Mitchell shoots in low to
pursue a double, and Fili stands tall but gets dragged down.
Mitchell instantly lands in mount, but Fili recovers to half guard
when Mitchell looks to step over to take Fili’s side. Mitchell
leans on an arm-triangle choke as Fili pushes off the cage, and he
pops his neck out as Mitchell spins to the other side. Mitchell
lands a single elbow, and lets loose a few more until Fili powers
out to get up. Fili dodges a spinning hook kick and blasts his man
in the face with a head kick. Mitchell’s mouthpiece goes flying,
and Fili throws him down to the ground. “Touchy” Fili lords over
him from above with a few strikes until the horn wraps up the
round.

Round 3

Mitchell jumps forward and clips Fili with a left hand and then a
right, and Fili is advancing while unconcerned about these strikes.
Fili kicks the lead leg and swings with a big left hook, but
Mitchell sees it coming. Fili over-extends with a left hand, and
“Thug Nasty” times it to take him down with ease. Fili maintains
full guard as Mitchell lands some pitter-patter ground-and-pound
from above, and Fili is constantly attempting to scramble and kick
off. Mitchell stays tight and heavy on his opponent, peppering him
with body shots and shucking off a possible triangle choke attempt
from Fili. The Team Alpha Male fighter powers his way back up, but
Mitchell hits a mat return and puts Fili on his back. Fili reverses
the position with sheer strength, and he lands one big shot until
Mitchell gets up. “Thug Nasty” races forward to connect with a
right hand, but he follows it with a takedown and not another
strike to plant Fili on his back again. Fili protects his face from
most strikes that come at him, but precious seconds are ticking off
the clock as Mitchell keeps him trapped to his back. Mitchell steps
over into mount, and Fili kicks and bucks to shake himself back to
full guard. Mitchell sits up and starts swinging down punches,
leading Fili to try to trade with him off his back. Mitchell begins
to work Mitchell over with strikes, and Fili throws up his legs to
fish for an armbar. Mitchell is not concerned as he pulls his arm
out and shrugs away the triangle setup, and he sits up every so
often to pop Fili on the chin with some loud punches. Fili pushes
off and throws everything he has left into short ground strikes,
and one busts up Mitchell’s eyebrow. The fight ends when Mitchell
hits one final takedown.

Round 1

The main event, one between Silva (34-10, 1 NC; 17-6, 1 NC UFC) and
a man many called the next Silva in Hall (15-9, 8-7 UFC), comes at
middleweight. There may be no better man suited to headline the
very first UFC Halloween card than Silva, who has said much of
ending his UFC career at the end of the night. Referee Herb Dean is
given the honor to supervise what could be Silva’s last fight, and
the two warriors show respect early with a bow and a glove touch.
The round begins in a stalemate, with the two counterstrikers
staring one another down from a distance for the first minute with
nary a strike thrown. Hall paws out a few jabs that are far away
from his opponent, and Silva slaps with a leg kick. Hall returns
fire with his own kick, and the action stalls out again. Hall kicks
the lead leg once and Silva does the same, and “The Spider” flings
a head kick that is easily blocked. Silva has a kick blocked, and
he evades a left straight from his adversary. Hall lets loose a
head kick and he falls over, and Silva lets him up but charges
after him to score a left hand. Silva kicks the knee, and Hall does
the same. Silva puts together a combination of strikes to put Hall
on the defensive, and Silva is recklessly charging at him as he
continues to swarm Hall with strikes. Hall catches him with a right
hand to back him off, and Silva resets to throw a low calf kick.
Hall kicks him in the midsection, and Silva hops forward and throws
an Andy Hug-style spinning low heel kick. Hall tries to make him
pay but he comes up short, but he snaps out a quick jab. Silva
rushes after him, absorbs another jab on the jaw, and rips the body
with a left hand. Silva streaks at him with three punches that
makes Hall fall back to the fence, and a front kick from Silva gets
countered with a check left hook. Silva lands on more right hand to
end the round.

Round 2

A touch of gloves clocks in the second frame, and Hall sticks out
his jab early. Silva kicks the leg and swats away a jab, before
spinning with a kick that glances off Hall’s torso. Silva slaps a
front kick off the chest of his opponent, and Hall cannot counter
it. Both swing and miss with reaching punches, and the staring
contest resumes for 30 seconds until Silva kicks him in the body
with a side kick. Hall has a leg kick checked, and Silva responds
with a stomping side kick to the thigh. Silva circles all the way
around his opponent 360 degrees, and he jabs and kicks the knee.
Hall reacts with a leg kick, and a swatting left hand grazes
Silva’s chin. Some tape on Hall’s glove has come loose, and Dean
pauses them to cut it. Silva starts back up with a one-two, and
Hall slaps a quick leg kick on Silva’s right knee. Silva’s spinning
back kick is planted on Hall’s midsection, and he begins to motion
his hands all over to confuse Hall from an attack. Silva does not
actually throw anything when he does this, and the two stare at one
another from a distance some more. Silva kicks at the lead leg and
hops around the outside, and he lands one on the inside and on the
outside of Hall’s leg. “The Spider” brushes off a jab but absorbs a
heavy leg kick that makes him think about changing his stance. The
two jab at one another but cannot reach their targets, and Hall
spins quickly and his heel careens off Silva’s guard. Silva kicks
the body and avoids a counter, ducking a jab and landing one of his
own. Silva circles around until the round ends.

Round 3

The two middleweights touch gloves, and Hall shoots out a few power
jabs early. Silva switches up his stances to wing a left hand, and
Hall just gets out of the way. The Brazilian fakes high and kicks
to the body, and Hall eats it without issue. Silva lands a leg kick
and gets countered with a jab, and the two are tensely feinting and
faking without throwing much of import. Hall jabs high and to the
body, and Silva replies with a leg kick, a body kick and another
leg kick. The two are slapping hands together in what looks like
the MMA version of pattycake, and Silva lands a solid left hand
that makes Hall backpedal. Silva chops down the lead leg, dodges a
jab and weaves away from a spinning back kick at close range from
Hall. Silva releases an axe kick that Hall blocks, and the former
champ lets rip with an overhand left. Silva sticks Hall with a hard
jab, and Hall returns but gets jabbed again. Silva lands a teep
kick down the middle, and Hall lands a right hand but takes a hard
punch to the eye. Hall complains that he got poked, but the action
continues when Dean says it was a punch. Silva works his way in
with strikes, and he clinches up with “Primetime” to smash Hall’s
toes with a stomp that echoes throughout the arena. Silva gets off
a knee up the middle, and Hall breaks free to go on the offensive.
Hall scores the right hand a few times, and Silva nails him in the
face with an elbow. Hall blasts him with a right hand over the top,
sending Silva crashing down to the ground. Hall pours it on as he
tries to chase Silva down and take him out, and Silva grabs hold of
Hall’s leg to survive to the bell.

Tristen Critchfield scores the round: 10-9 Hall
Tyler Treese scores the round: 10-9 Hall

Round 4

Silva begins the round with a solid left hand, and Hall dances on
the outside after Silva kicks his leg. Silva is light on his feet
and does not appear negatively impacted from the knockdown, and the
two trade single strikes from a distance. Hall lands a jab, and
Silva wades forward to blitz him. “Primetime” catches him with a picture-perfect
right hand while Silva’s hands are down, putting Silva down hard.
Silva tries to survive by kicking off, but Hall unleashes one final
barrage of strikes of punches and hammerfists to seal the deal.

Dean dives in to stop the fight, as Silva is out and grabs hold of
Dean’s leg unconsciously. Winning over his idol, Hall breaks down
in tears and apologizes to Silva for beating him, and thanking
Silva for inspiring him. The two share a great moment together,
embracing and letting their emotions out. If this is indeed the
last time we see Silva in the cage, he is unquestionably one of the
best to ever do it, and even in defeat his legacy remains
intact.
