UFC
309
in Madison Square Garden saw perhaps the most accomplished

Ultimate Fighting Championship
heavyweight of all-time,
Stipe
Miocic
, take on arguably the greatest mixed martial artist of
ever and reigning heavyweight king, Jon Jones. And
just like old times, Jones took home extra money as he was rewarded
$50,000 for “Performance of the Night.”

For a solid performance that saw him dominate four rounds out of
five, former lightweight ace Charles
Oliveira
set a record for his 20th post-fight bonus, getting
awarded “Fight of the Night” honors. Following four rounds of total
domination, Oliveira was able to hold off a late rally from
Chandler in the final frame and may have secured another
opportunity at the UFC lightweight title fight in 2025.

Earlier on the card, Ramiz
Brahimaj
faced former highly-regarded prospect Mickey
Gall
, but Brahimaj made quick work of the fellow New Yorker. It
took less than three minutes of the first round for Brahimaj, from
the Bronx, put away his opponent and handed him his fourth
consecutive loss and picked up the first bonus of his UFC tenure
with an “Performance of the Night” award.

Oban
Elliott
, a Welch fighter who put on an incredible performance
in his third fight under the UFC banner, also claimed a
“Performance of the Night” bonus for knocking out Bassill Hafez in
the final round of their welterweight tilt.
