The 27-year-old muay thai star continued his climb on the One
Championship ladder and turned away Tagir
Khalilov with elbows and punches in the second round of their

ONE on Prime Video 12 headliner on Friday at Lumpinee Boxing
Stadium in Bangok, Thailand. Khalilov met his end 1:42 into Round
2.

Superlek administered a sustained beating for nearly five minutes.
He tore into the Russian with an overwhelming assortment of
weapons, but his ferocious stepping elbows were a sight to behold.
They split Khalilov’s defenses repeatedly and drew a considerable
amount of blood. Midway through the second round,
Superlek put together one final surge of offense and
prompted referee Olivier Coste to intervene.

Meanwhile, five-time Eddie Bravo Invitational winner Garry Tonon
dismissed Shamil
Gasanov with
a kneebar in the second round of their featherweight co-main
event. Gasanov (9-1, 1-1 ONE) conceded defeat 2:26
into Round 2.

Tonon (8-1, 8-1 ONE) did not escape unscathed. Gasanov sprawled on
a takedown early in the first round and battered him with knees to
the top of the head. Action ultimately stalled and sent the two
combatants into the middle stanza. There, Gasanov delivered a
takedown inside the first 15 seconds and went to work with some
effective ground-and-pound. Tonon managed to return to an upright
position, retreated to a corner and then rolled into a kneebar on
the Russian’s left leg. Gasanov showed no sense of urgency until it
was too late, and by then, he was shouting in pain and likely in
need of an appointment with a reconstructive surgeon.



Elsewhere, Iranian brute Amir
Aliakbari struck
Dana White’s Contender Series alum Dustin
Joynson into submission in the first round of their heavyweight
attraction. Joynson (7-2, 1-2 ONE)
tapped to punches 1:48 into Round 1, suffering his
second in defeat in three appearances.

Aliakbari (13-3, 3-2 ONE) got the ball rolling with his heavy
hands, landing in two- and three-punch volleys. He executed a
takedown a little more than a minute into the contest, climbed to
side control and trapped Joynson in a topside crucifix. In an
instant, the Canadian’s situation had gone from dire to downright
hopeless. After eating a string of punches and seeing there was no
escape, Joynson raised the white flag of surrender.

The 35-year-old Aliakbari will ride a three-fight winning streak
into his next assignment.

Further down the card, Tribe Tokyo MMA’s Yuya
Wakamatsu put away Wei Xie with

punches in the first round of their 135.5-pound catchweight
showcase. Wakamatsu (16-6, 6-4 ONE) drew the curtain
2:03 into Round 1, as he rebounded from back-to-back losses to
Adriano
Moraes and Sung Hoon
Woo.

Xie (17-6, 8-3 ONE) lured the Pancrase veteran into the clinch and
paired some close-quarters pressure with foot stomps. However, he
failed to build any real momentum. Wakamatsu struck for a takedown,
set up shop in side control and assaulted “The Hunter” with a burst
of rapid-fire elbows and knees to the head. He eventually moved to
full mount and sealed the deal with unanswered punches.

It was the eighth first-round stoppage of Wakamatsu’s career.

Finally, Akbar
Abdullaev kept his perfect professional record intact and did
so in spectacular style, as he disposed of Aaron
Canarte with
a spinning back kick to the body and follow-up punches in the first
round of their featherweight feature. Canarte (10-1,
0-1 ONE) checked out 41 seconds into Round 1.

Abdullaev (10-0, 2-0 ONE) backed the Entram Gym prospect to the
ropes and lowered the proverbial boom. Heel struck midsection with
a sickening thud and had the previously unbeaten Canarte ducking
for cover. He found none. Abdullaev cut loose with punches, forced
his counterpart to the canvas and continued to let his hands fly
until the job was done.

The 25-year-old Abdullaev has delivered three straight sub-minute
finishes.

In other action, Phetjeeja
OrMeekhun obliterated Lara
Fernandez with
punches 26 seconds into the first round of their women’s atomweight
pairing; Duoji Banma
(15-2, 1-1 ONE) laid claim to a unanimous verdict over Walter
Goncalves (0-1, 0-1 ONE) in a three-round catchweight battle at
a 135.75-pound catchweight; Tammi
Musumeci took a unanimous decision from Amanda
Alequin in their 10-minute women’s strawweight submission
grappling match; and Bogdan
Shumarov wiped out Constantin Rusu with
a head kick 1:33 into the third round of their lightweight
kickboxing clash.
