Brady didn’t take his first professional loss lightly.
Brady was a highly touted, undefeated welterweight prospect with
five wins in the
Ultimate Fighting Championship going into his clash against
Belal
Muhammad at
UFC 280 in 2022. Muhammad tagged Brady late in the second round
and followed up with a barrage of shots, eventually forcing the
referee to step in.

Brady recently revealed that he was mentally broken after his loss
to Muhammad. He admits that his identity was built around his
undefeated record, with the thought of losing never crossing his
mind. Brady hired a mental health coach as he was an absolute mess.
He even claims that he used to randomly start crying while
driving.
“I thought I was going to retire undefeated,” Brady told Daniel
Cormier. “I really truly thought I was never going to lose and
then obviously, I did lose. My whole identity was wrapped up in
being undefeated. When I lost to Belal, it devastated me. I thought
the world was going to burn down; I thought my life was going to
end when I lost that fight. I started working with a mental coach
because I was f*cked up. I would be randomly driving and I would
just start crying. I hate losing so much… I just hate it.”
Brady is confident he’s better than Muhammad and is keen on running
it back with the former champ.
“I have nothing but respect for Belal, but I still want to fight
him because I know if we fight 10 times, I’ll beat him 9/10, but he
just got me that one time,” he added. “I have to compete against
him again.”
Brady (19-2) rebounded from that loss with wins over Kelvin
Gastelum, Gilbert
Burns and Leon
Edwards, before being stopped by Michael
Morales last November. The Philadelphia native has since
returned to the win column with a dominant decision win over
Joaquin
Buckley this past May. Brady is now scheduled to fight Gabriel
Bonfim (20-1) in the main event of a
UFC Fight Night on Nov. 7 at Meta Apex in Las Vegas.
