The latest Cage Fury Fighting Championships foray into
Wales ended with a quick finish.

In the CW 142 main event, 125-pound
titleholder Sam Creasey
notched his first title defense—and became the first fighter to
successfully defend the CW flyweight belt—after submitting Stipe
Brcic
. Creasey (16-4, 11-4 CW) stunned his foe with the very
first shot he landed, a nasty stepping right hook that dropped
Brcic (10-3, 0-1 CW) on the canvas. Smelling blood, “Urai” went for
a guillotine choke attempt that immediately appeared tight. Brcic
looked for an escape out of the sticky situation, but Creasey
readjusted his submission maneuver and left his opponent no chance
but to tap. The official time indicated that 71 seconds had passed
since the beginning.

In the co-headliner, Oban
Elliott
(6-2, 6-2 CW) dominated former 185-pound kingpin
Matthew
Bonner
(12-8-1, 9-6-1 CW) for three rounds in a welterweight
clash. Elliott showcased good footwork and striking accuracy in
dealing with a much more experienced opponent. “The Welsh Gangster”
looked for an early finish in the opening round, bantering his
adversary with some heavy artillery for a few minutes. Bonner
weathered the storm on that occasion, but he never offered much
offense of his own. Elliott dictated the pace and rhythm as the
fight went the distance. When it came to reading the judges’
scorecards, they all read 30-27 in favor of the local fighter,
Elliott.

Elsewhere, Michelangelo
Lupoli
(6-2, 1-0 CW) outstroke Aaron Aby
(13-5-1, 2-2 CW) en route to a unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28,
30-26) at flyweight; International Mixed Martial Arts Federation
silver medalist Jasmine
Favero
(1-0, 1-0 CW) successfully made her professional debut
by stopping Stephanie
Paige Evans
(0-1, 0-1 CW) with punches at 3:48 in Round 2;
up-and-coming 145-pounder Luke Riley
(4-0, 4-0 CW) stayed unbeaten after crushing Cheriff
Larossi
(1-2, 0-1 CW) with punches at 4:18 in the second
frame.

On the preliminary card, Bellator MMA alum Chris
Bungard
(17-7, 1-0 CW) eked out a narrow split decision over
Brave Combat Federation vet
Erick
da Silva
in a 161-pound catchweight contest; Sean
McCormac
(2-1, 1-0 CW) outpointed Owain
Williams
(0-1, 0-1 CW) on all scorecards (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
at middleweight; in a 174-pound catchweight bout, George
McManus
(3-3, 2-2 CW) submitted Milton
Afonso Cabral
(1-2, 0-1 CW) with a rear-naked choke at 1:52 of
Round 1; and 205-pounder Matthew
Byfield
(4-1, 1NC; 1-0, 1NC CW) blitzed Szymon
Szynkiewicz
(2-5, 0-1 CW) with elbows and punches 68 seconds
out of the gate.
