Musaev is sitting pretty as he makes his first venture into the

Professional Fighters League postseason.

The 30-year-old Russian secured the No. 1 seed at welterweight by
virtue of a second-round technical knockout of Murad
Ramazanov at
PFL 6 on Friday night at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls,
South Dakota. The
KSW veteran is now unbeaten in 17 professional outings, but
he’ll have to best the same adversary twice in a row if he is to
advance in the 170-pound bracket. His matchup for Aug. 23 at The
Anthem in Washington, D.C. will be a return date with the
fourth-seeded Ramazanov, who suffered his first professional defeat
on Friday. Meanwhile, No. 2 Magomed
Umalatov will square off against No. 3 Don Madge in
the other welterweight semifinal.

Elsewhere, Brendan
Loughnane began his pursuit of a second PFL featherweight title
in earnest, as he clinched the top seed with a technical knockout
triumph against Justin
Gonzales at the 3:34 mark of Round 2 in their headlining clash.
A brutal knee from the English veteran opened a gaping wound on
Gonzales’ forehead, prompting a cageside physician to wave off the
bout. Loughnane will face fourth-seeded Kai Kamaka
III in one 145-pound semifinal, while 2023 finalist and No. 2
seed Gabriel
Braga will meet No. 3 Timur
Khizriev on the other side of the bracket.

After a brief respite, the PFL playoffs will begin with heavyweight
and women’s flyweight semifinals on Aug. 2 at Nashville Municipal
Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.
