Muhammad
Mokaev
claims he can stop fighting right now.

Mokaev claims he doesn’t have to worry about his finances even if
he hangs up his gloves today. The 24-year-old was seemingly wise
enough to invest smartly and secure his future since his
UFC
days.

However, with the current uncertainty regarding his fighting
career, Mokaev just needs to keep competing to stay motivated.
Having wrestled and fought for the majority of his life, the
Dagestan-born Brit doesn’t know any other way of life.

“At this stage in my life, I can finish my career,” Mokaev told
Home of Fight. “If it’s financially, I can finish my career today
and just sit and chill and do nothing. Because I invested
everything. I did everything smart. That’s why I’m not really
worried about my career, because whatever I earned in UFC, I
understood that this money, it’s not forever. Injury can happen… So
financially I don’t need to fight anymore… But motivation wise, I
need to fight to train more. What else I can do? I wake up in the
morning, if I don’t have training, what else I will do?”

While many saw the makings of a future champ in Mokaev, his UFC
career came to an abrupt end. Mokaev’s contract was not renewed
after he earned a lackluster unanimous decision win over Manel Kape
to maintain his undefeated record at UFC 304
last year. However, his fighting style wasn’t the likely reason for
the end of his UFC career. Kape and Mokaev had gotten into multiple
physical altercations leading up to the fight, with both parties
accusing the other of sucker punching.

Mokaev then earned a submission win at
Brave Combat Federation
followed by a stoppage win at Karate
Combat earlier this month. “The Punisher” will return to MMA
competition against Alisher
Gabdullin
(15-4) at the
971 Fighting Championship
on June 14 at the Coca Cola Arena in
Dubai.
