Max Holloway explains why UFC 329 is a chance to build his
legacy against Conor McGregor
Holloway and McGregor will collide at
UFC 329, slated for Saturday, July 11 at T-Mobile Arena in Las
Vegas. “Blessed” lost to the Irishman 13 years ago and sees the
rematch as the ideal platform not only to settle the score, but
also to return to the win column and add to his legacy.
“All you have to do is win in this sport and win excitingly,” the
Hawaiian said ahead of the fight. “I’m going out there… I’m going
to put on a show. We are in the entertainment business… We are
prize-fighters.”
The former featherweight and BMF champion then highlighted that a
win over McGregor would set up big fights down the line.
“I’m going to go out there and remind the world who I am,” Holloway
added. “Who knows? I have history with the 155-pound champ, and
everybody keeps saying the 170-pound champ’s for Conor. So, if I
just fit myself right in there, it would be nice.”
Revealing that he’s motivated by the prospect of setting records
that future generations will attempt to surpass, Holloway wants to
further cement his legacy with more accolades.
“I am chasing for moments, I am chasing for records, and a lot of
people tell me that I got a lot of them, but I want to make it
more,” he said. “Unreachable, you know, so the next generation come
in, and they see those goals, and they try to break it. It’s all
about pushing the next generation,” he concluded.
