Mateusz
Gamrot is looking to feed off Dustin
Poirier’s energy in his upcoming bout in the
Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Gamrot (26-4) is scheduled to headline
UFC Fight Night 284 against Quillan
Salkilld (12-1) on Aug. 8 at Meta Apex in Las Vegas. The Polish
lightweight’s
American Top Team teammate, Poirier, will serve as a desk
analyst for the event.

Mateusz Gamrot explains why Dustin Poirier’s energy could help
against Quillan Salkilld
Gamrot recently recalled his conversation with Poirier about his
teammate attending the upcoming Fight Night. He claimed that having
his teammate in attendance will only boost his performance.
“[Poirier brings] energy, crazy energy, every day attitude,” Gamrot
told Full Send MMA. “He texted me and said he wants to come to my
fight this Saturday in Las Vegas. I texted him back, ‘Bro, if you
come, you give me 100% more power.’ If Dustin comes to this fight,
I’ll be immortal.”
Notably, this will be Poirier’s first gig as a desk analyst since
getting arrested at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International
Airport on a charge of public drunkenness this past June. The UFC
and Paramount+ have backed the former interim champion, unlike Bud
Light, which ended its partnership with him.
Gamrot is 2-2 in his last four bouts and coming off a submission
win over Esteban
Ribovics. Meanwhile, Salkilld is undefeated in five UFC
appearances, including four first-round finishes, since winning a
contract on
Dana White’s Contender Series. He made quick work of Beneil
Dariush in his most recent fight this past May.
Mateusz
Gamrot says there is no chance he loses to Quillan
Salkilld if friend and teammate Dustin
Poirier shows up“He brings so much energy. He texted me and said he wants to be
there. I said if you show up I’ll be immortal. IGBG my man!”
