Chimaev won the middleweight title against Dricus Du
Plessis at
UFC 319 last year. While Chimaev is expected to defend his
title against Nassourdine
Imavov, they don’t seem keen on fighting each other due to
their ethnic ties. Meanwhile, Strickland scored an upset win over
Anthony
Hernandez at
UFC Houston last month. Strickland and Chimaev also have beef
between them, originating from past sparring sessions. While
Strickland accuses Chimaev of inactivity, “Borz” says the
bitterness stems from getting submitted in sparring. Meanwhile,
Strickland says he was only submitted in situational grappling and
made Chimaev quit training.
