Campos silenced the home crowd as he finished the local
favorite in the first round at
PFL Nigeria.

Campos (8-2, 2-1 PFL) locked horns with Wasi
Adeshina (10-4, 3-1 PFL) in an intriguing featherweight clash.
After a brief feeling-out process where both fighters alternated
between wrestling phases against the fence and exchanges in the
center of the cage, “Nacho” landed a perfectly timed knee that
dropped his opponent. The Spaniard followed up with several heavy
punches from half-guard before taking his opponent’s back as
Adeshina was looking to escape. Once Campos gained the favorable
position, it was only a matter of time before he locked in a
rear-naked choke. Adeshina was unable to mount an effective defense
before tapping out at the 1:45 mark of Round 1. In victory, Campos
handed his foe the first loss under the
Professional Fighters League banner.

In the co-main event, Patrick
Ocheme (8-1, 3-0 PFL) stopped Ayinda
Octave (7-2, 1-2 PFL) with a flying knee at 3:17 of Round 1 in
their lightweight tournament clash. The pair wasted little time
engaging, each looking to make an early statement. Once Ocheme had
his opponent measured, he charged forward and landed a flying knee
while Octave was attempting a takedown. The shot dropped Octave
instantly. „Star Boi“ connected with a left hand before pulling
back as the referee stepped in to wave off the contest.

In other action, Karim
Henniene (7-0, 3-0 PFL) submitted Thimna
Mhlauli (5-1, 0-1 PFL) with an anaconda choke at 2:23 of Round
1 in their bantamweight clash. “The Kryptonian” moved the action to
the canvas with ease, locked in the choke and forced Mhlauli to
lose consciousness as his defense proved insufficient to escape the
hold. In victory, Henniene spoiled the perfect record of his foe
and advanced to the 135-pound tournament’s next phase.

Cornel
Thompson (12-3, 2-0 PFL) outpointed Aureo Cruz
(3-1, 1 NC; 0-1, 1 NC PFL) in their lightweight tournament
encounter. Thompson put his clean striking to work in the opening
rounds before Cruz moved the action to the canvas in the third. The
effort was enough for a unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
and a berth in the semifinals.

In the main card opener, Jordan
Cabrel Fongno (5-1, 1-0 PFL) handed Yahaya
Yahuza (8-1, 0-1 PFL) the first professional loss of his
career, stopping him with punches at 3:35 of Round 2 in their
185-pound tilt. Fongno backed Yahuza against the fence with a
barrage of punches before referee Steven Momoh stepped in, though

“Smile Strong” appeared to still be defending himself when the bout
was waved off.
