In the CW 147 headliner, Hardwick (11-1, 5-1 CW) proved once more
why he’s one of the most-interesting lightweights in Europe at the
moment as he decimated Chris
Bungard in their championship encounter. Hardwick studied his
foe in the opening frame and patiently worked the legs and body. In
turns, Bungard (17-8, 1-1 CW) countered with a knee to the body
every time his opponent overcommitted. Hardwick’s strategy paid
dividends in the second frame as he started having more and more
success with his laser-sharp punches. A few seconds before the end
of the round, Hardwick reached Bungard’s liver with a left punch,
dropping the Scotsman on the spot. Hardwick followed up with a few
more shots until referee Marc Goddard
called the end of the clash. The official time indicated the 4:36
mark of Round 2.

In the co-main event, former 145-pound champion Morgan
Charriere spoiled the promotional debut of Daniel
Bazant thanks to a split-decision victory. The pair gave birth
to a hard-fought contest for three rounds, with both contestants
having their moments to shine. Charriere (16-9-1, 4-3 CW) showcased
his kickboxing background with some remarkable punch-kick
combinations. The Frenchman went head-to-head with Bazant (7-4, 0-1
CW) on the canvas, where the Croatian standout had the edge over
his adversary. Even though Bazant ended the clash on top of his
foe, he couldn’t stop the fight from going the distance.
Ultimately, two cageside judges drew 29-28 scorecards for
Charriere, while the third saw the clash 28-29 for Bazant,
rewarding “The Last Pirate” with the fifth decision victory in his
career.

Elsewhere, up-and-coming 185-pounder Will Currie
(9-2, 5-2 CW) demolished Michael
Tchamou (3-2, 2-2 CW) with punches and elbows at 3:04 of Round
1; Jan
Quaeyhaegens (10-4, 3-1 CW) overcame Erick da
Silva (22-9, 0-2 CW) thanks to a knee-punches combination 26
seconds into their lightweight affair; and welterweight Omran
Chaaban (4-1, 3-0 CW) wrecked George
McManus (3-4, 2-3 CW) with a series of punches to the body at
3:12 of the third period.
