Dricus Du
Plessis
doesn’t think Khamzat
Chimaev
has any right to call a fight boring.

Max
Holloway
put his BMF title on the line against Charles
Oliveira
at
UFC 326
earlier this month. Oliveira dominated Holloway on the
ground to earn a unanimous decision win. Despite Oliveira’s
dominant performance, some felt that the performance didn’t do
justice to the BMF title. Chimaev also mocked the fight for lack of
entertainment.

“This was crazy highlight fight,” Chimaev wrote.

Du Plessis slammed Chimaev for criticizing the fight. Du Plessis
believes “Borz” doesn’t have the right to call out a fight for
inactivity after their clash at UFC 319 last year. Du Plessis
defended Oliveira’s performance, citing the Brazilian’s constant
submission threats.

Pot, Meet Kettle

“I saw Khamzat commenting and saying how boring that fight was,” Du
Plessis told Fight Forecast. “That’s kind of rich
coming from him. I mean, at least Charles
Oliveira
went for some submissions. He didn’t just lie on top
of [Holloway].”

Chimaev (15-0) dethroned Du Plessis (23-3) to win the middleweight
title at
UFC 319
last year. Chimaev was slammed for laying and praying
on Du Plessis instead of looking for a finish. While Du Plessis
doesn’t think Chimaev deserves to criticize the BMF title fight, he
also did not find Oliveira’s performance befitting of the BMF
title.

“Max, it wasn’t for a lack of trying,” Du Plessis said. “Charles
Oliveira
shut him down completely. Was it a BMF title fight? I
don’t think so. That’s not what the BMF represents. Of course, well
done, Charles
Oliveira
did a great job. I’m not bashing him at all. I’m just
saying, what that title represents was not what that
was.”

Chimaev is now scheduled to defend his title against Sean
Strickland
at UFC 328
on May 10 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
