Demetrious
Johnson
believes there’s nothing left for Israel
Adesanya
to achieve in MMA.

Johnson (24-6)  was in attendance when his friend Adesanya
took on Joe Pyfer at

UFC Seattle
last weekend. It was hard for “Mighty Mouse” to see
Adesanya suffer a second-round technical knockout loss against
Pyfer. Adesanya even congratulated Johnson on his Hall of Fame
induction after the fight.  Adesanya has now dropped four in a
row since reclaiming his middleweight title in a rematch against
Alex
Pereira
in 2022.

Johnson would like to see Adesanya hang up his gloves for good.
Johnson notes that Adesanya has already scaled heights in the sport
that most only dream of. Additionally, “The Last Stylebender” has
had an illustrious career in kickboxing before transitioning to
MMA. Johnson believes Adesanya now deserves to ride off into the
sunset.

‘He’s Done Everything’

“I was just gutted… You’ve done everything, just walk away from the
sport… I would [retire] if I was him… I would like to see him
retire,” Johnson said on „The Ariel Helwani Show.” “There’s nothing else
left for him to do in mixed martial arts. I think he’s done
everything, not even considering the number of kickboxing matches
he’s had as well. The man’s been on a tear, on a grind. I think he
deserves to relax and enjoy himself and find something else.”

Johnson further recalled the recently retired Dustin
Poirier
’s words, who said that multiple avenues have opened up
since his retirement. Johnson believes Adesanya can occupy himself
with multiple business ventures post-retirement. Johnson is also
involved in various businesses and doesn’t want to compete in RAF
wrestling.

‘It’s like Dustin
Poirier
– now that he’s retired, he’s finding all these things
he can actually say yes to that he couldn’t before,” Johnson said.
“… People are like, ‚Man, you should come wrestle for Real American
Freestyle!‘ Why? This [business] stuff is way more important than
competing.”
