Round 1
Lima, Peru, native Lavado will lock horns with two-time KSW veteran
Wojcik after the strawweights had the most heated staredown of any
Contender Series bout at Monday’s weigh-ins. Mike Beltran will
officiate this clash. Lavado fires a couple straight rights that
miss the mark and Wojcik answers with a leg kick. Wojcik is
targeting the calf early with several kicks. They tie up briefly
and Beltran warns the fighters to watch their heads. Wojcik
clinches and drives Lavada into the fence. She drives her head
under her opponent’s chin but Lavada is able to create separation
in short order. Lavado tags Wojcik with a counter right as her foe
moves forward. Wojcik charges forward and drives Lavado back into
the cage, just missing a clash of heads. Lavado turns off the fence
and reverses position. They separate and Wojcik just misses a
combination. A leg kick finds the mark for the Pole. Lavado with an
inside leg kick and Wojcik crashes forward and ties up Lavado
against the fence again. Wojcik goes high with a knee as she
maintains control. Wojcik tosses Lavado to the canvas and the Peru
native hustles to her feet, unsuccessfully attempting a single
before the horn.

Round 2
The strawweights begin by handfighting but Wojcik forces the clinch
and lands an elbow on the break. A leg kick lands for the Pole and
she dodges an ensuing combination. Wojick closes the distance and
the strawweights are battling it out in the clinch again. Wojcik
shoves Lavado into the fence and punches the thigh of her opponent.
Lavado reverses the position and then they separate in the center
of the cage. Wojick presses forward with her jab but it appears she
poked Lavado in the eye on the entry and time is called. Lavado
takes some time to recover while Beltran addresses her in Spanish.
The bout resumes after about a minute respite. An inside leg kick
lands for Wojcik. Lavado isn’t using her five-inch reach advantage
so far. Wojcik feints and then lands a combination. Wojcik forces
the clinch behind an overhand right, and this time she is able to
toss Lavado to the mat. Wojcik sets up in half guard near the
fence. She grinds her left forearm across Lavado’s face while her
opponent tries to hold her close. Wojcik postures up and lands some
short elbows. Lavado powers her way up and eats a knee for her
troubles before turning Wojick into the fence. Wojcik reverses
position and is back in control. Wojcik leans on Lavado and Beltran
tells the fighters to work. Lavado briefly gets Wojcik down and
ends the round in a standing rear waistlock.

Round 3
Lavado’s corner did its best to provide a sense of urgency, telling
the fighter she needs a knockout to win. Lavado throws a body kick,
but Wojcik catches it and trips Lavado to the mat. Wojcik is in her
foe’s full guard, throwing short punches to the body. Wojcik
creates space for a glancing elbow. Wojcik stands and lands a few
right hands to the head. Lavado is working her guard higher, but
Wojcik halts that with more punches before diving back into full
guard. Lavado appears content to be in a defensive position here.
Wojcik postures up and drops an elbow down. Wojcik picks Lavado up,
and combines a partial slam with another purposeful elbow. We’re at
the 2:00 mark and Lavado shows no signs of returning to her feet.
Lavado with a full elbows from her back, but they don’t affect
Wojcik. The KSW veteran remains heavy on top and she passes to half
guard. Lavado foils an attempt by Wojcik to pin her arm, but Wojcik
takes the back. She’s not fully on the back of her opponent but she
applies the squeeze nonetheless. Lavado escapes and immediately
jumps on Wojcik’s back. She has both hooks in and is landing
punches and hunting for the choke right up until the horn.

Round 1
Entram Gym’s Chairez has finished all seven of his professional
triumphs, while the undefeated and MMA Lab-trained Carpenter is
coming off a three-bout stint in Legacy Fighting Alliance. Chris
Tognoni will be the third man in the cage for this flyweight scrap.
Chairez fires off a low kick and Carpenter answers with one of his
own. Carpenter follows a pair of low kicks with a nice straight.
Carpenter presses forward and Chariez counters with a leaping knee
while backing up. Chairez is working to use his six-inch reach
advnantage behind his jab. A front kick lands for the Mexican
fighter. Carpenter pressures with a combination and Chairez angles
out. Carpenter lands a pair of low kciks and Chairez counters.
Chariez with a front kick and Chairez counters. Another front kick
from Chairez. Carpenter charges forward and lands a left hook.
Another entry by Carpenter results in him getting clipped by
Chairez. He keeps his feet and the flyweights are still trading.
Carpenter closes the distance and forces a clinch. But he pulls
Chairez on top of him before scrambling back to his feet. Chairez
lands a big elbow on the break. Carpenter has a mouse forming under
his right eye and Chariez tags him with a left. Carpenter shoots
for a takedown against the fence following a slip by his opponent.
He can’t execute the takedown and they’re back in the center of the
cage. Chairez throws out his jab and eats a leg kick. Chairez with
a leg kick of his own. Carpenter pressures with a combination and
ducks under a spinning back fist from Chairez. Chairez misses a
leaping knee but sticks a straight right that draws a nod from
Carpenter at the horn.

Round 2
Carpenter’s right eye has some significant swelling as the second
frame begins. Chairez lands a left hook and a low kick. Carpenter
counters a kick with a left hook. Another hard leg kick lands for
Carpenter and he lands a couple more, as he’s focusing on that
area. Chairez with a spinning attack that misses, and they briefly
trade punches in the pocket. Chairez sticks out his long jab.
Another jab stops Carpenter’s forward movement. Carpenter counters
a left hook with a low kick, and he pressures forward with a
combination. Chairez picks up hs kick output with front kicks and
leg kicks. Carpenter lands an inside leg kick but slips on the
ensuing combination. Chairez uses his jab to keep his foe at bay,
but Carpenter finally closes the distance and changes levels for a
takedown. He quickly passes to half guard and is so far content to
remain heavy on top. Carpenter drops a couple short elbows. Chairez
looks frustrated but he isn’t doing anything to escape the
position. Carpenter drops an elbow and passes to full mount.
Carpenter throws more elbows but Chairez does a decent job hiding
his head in the waning seconds. Still, a strong ending for
Carpenter.

Round 3
Carpenter lands a couple lefts early and then the flyweights trade
leg kicks. Carpenter lands a right to the body and Chairez
stumbles. Chairez sticks a jab to counter a front kick by his
opponent. Chairez with a front kick down the middle, then a
standing side kick to the body. Carpenter connects with a pair of
hard low kicks, then a third. Carpenter sticks a straight left,
then a right hand. Chairez’soutput has slowed. Carpenter pressures
and attempts to land a knee but slips to the canvas. A nice left
hook lands for Carpenter, and he has a head kick blocked. Moments
later, Carpenter executes a nice takedown, but Chairez scrambles up
in a hurry. Carpenter shoots against the fence and Chairez defends.
They’re back in the center of the cage. Carpenter lunges in with a
left hook. Carpenter times a takedown off a Chairez knee and plants
his foe on his back. Carpenter is working from inside full guard,
and he passes to half guard. Carpenter lands a couple short elbows.
With time winding down, Carpener opens up and drops more elbows.
The MMA Lab ends the bout in impressive fashion, landing a few more
elbows from half guard on his bloodied adversary.

Clayton Carpenter def. Edgar Chairez via Unanimous Decision (29-28,
29-28, 29-28) R3 5:00
Round 1
Venezuela’s Silva has won seven straight contests, including four
in a row by way of rear-naked choke. Uzbekistan’s Boynazarov,
meanwhile, has finished all three of his pro appearances inside of
a round, but he also notably boasts a 95-27-2 kickboxing record.
Mike Beltran will oversee the featherweight bout. Silva opens with
a front kick, straight right and a takedown shot that plants
Boynazarov on the canvas immediately. Silva is in half guard,
landing punches and elbows with Boynazarov pressed close to the
fence. Boynazarov creates space with his guard and briefly gets to
a seated position, but Silva puts his back on the mat again.
Silva drops a series of nasty elbows that seem to affect
Boynazarov, and he switches to right hands, unloading with
approximately six unanswered shots.Boynazarov can do nothing but
roll into a fetal position and cover up, so Beltran steps in to
wave off the contest. That makes eight straight victories for
Silva.

Round 1
Pogues will be making his second Contender Series appearance, since
2019 decision win over Marcos Brigago wasn’t enough to earn a UFC
deal. Brazil’s Renato Jr. has won nine straight, including seven
inside the distance. Chris Tognoni will be the third man in the
cage. The heavyweights touch gloves and we’re underway. Pogues
punches his way into clinch range and Renato Jr. turns his man into
the fence. Renato Jr. lands a knee to the thigh and they separate.
Pogues lands a stiff jab and follows up with a head kick. Renato
Jr. counters a jab with a low kick. A nice counter left lands for
Renato Jr., but Pogues stays busy and lands another jab. Pogues is
stalking his man landing straight lefts and rights. Pogues
continues to throw 1-2s and he points to the canvas to encourage
his opponent to engage. Renato Jr. lands a solid leg kick, but he
eats another jab. Pogues has a high kick partially blocked. A left
gets through for Renato Jr. Pogues sticks another jab and a right,
and Renato Jr. answers with a low kick. An inside leg kick lands
for Renato Jr., as Pogues continues to target the head with
punches. An overhand right finds a home for Renato Jr. Pogues lands
his jab a few more times as the round draws to a close, and Renato
Jr. attacks with a low kick.

Round 2
Renato Jr. steps in with a lead uppercut. Pogues with an outside
leg kick. A left hook lands for Pogues and Renato Jr. counters with
an inside leg kick that spins his man around. Pogues picks up the
intensity briefly, firing off several right hands. Renato Jr.
answers with a nice combination upstairs. A right hand lands for
Pogues and Renato Jr. targets the leg again in response. Renato Jr.
with a combination that ends with a hook to the body. Pogues isn’t
doing much beyond throwing single shots, and Renato Jr. continues
to target the legs. Renato Jr. follows a left hook with a right to
the body. Renato Jr. is on the offensive now, backing up Pogues,
but he eats a jab. Renato Jr. is still chipping away at Pogues’
lead leg. He follows an inside low kick with a straight right.
Pogues stands still and Renato Jr. lands another leg kick. Renato
Jr. is showing good movement and another leg kick spins Pogues
around. Renato Jr. ends the frame with a two-punch combination
followed by a leg kick.

Renato Jr. goes after the legs and Pogues tries a body kick. Renato
Jr. seems to be gaining confidence, stringing together combinations
to go with his leg kicks. A stiff jab lands for Pogues and he
answers a low kick with a combination. Pogues throws some hooks in
a spurt of aggression. Pogues dodges a combination, smiles and
lands a jab. Another combination lands for Pogues. A couple left
hooks connect for Pogues. Pogues mixes up his jab and straight
right, and Renato Jr. shakes his head before firing off another leg
kick. A straight right lands for Pogues. A left hook connects for
Renato Jr., and Pogues pounds his chest. Another inside leg kick
for Renato Jr.. Pogues with a nice left hook. Renato Jr. lands a
kick to the outside. A jab-low kick combination lands for Pogues.
Another jab for Pogues. Renato Jr. tries to apply more pressure,
but Pogues fires back with hooks and a leaping knee that mises the
mark. A nice body kick lands for Pogues, who follows with a left
hook. Pogues ends the round landing more solid punches along with a
front kick to the body.

Round 1
Nickal enters the Contender Series with plenty of hype behind him
as a three-time NCAA national champion wrestler at Penn State
University. Borrego, who missed weight, is coming off a trio of
victories under the Fury FC banner but will be a massive underdog
here. Mike Beltran will officiate the evening’s featured fight.
Nickal gets a double leg within seconds but Borrego is up quickly.
Nickal snaps the head down with a front headlock and latches on to
a power guillotine while standing against the fence. He relents and
spins around to Borrego’s back. Borrego is on a knee as Nickal
looks to slide his arm under the chin of his opponent.
He has one hook in and applies the squeeze. The choke doesn’t
appear to be all the way under the chin, but the pressure is more
than enough to force Borrego to tap out. Nickal more than lives
up to his considerable hype with an absolutely dominant
performance.
