Kevin Holland Not Impressed by Khamzat Chimaev’s Heavily Hyped 2020 Campaign

For the record, Kevin Holland doesn’t mind giving out credit where credit is due.

After authoring just the second knockout in promotion history stemming from a punch from bottom position against Ronaldo Souza at UFC 256 on Saturday night, Holland dismissed the notion that his finish should top year-end award lists for knockouts. That honor, he says, belongs to Joaquin Buckley, who went viral with a spinning back kick finish of Impa Kasanganay earlier this year. Coincidentally, Holland welcomed Buckley to the Octagon with a third-round TKO at UFC Fight Night 174 on Aug. 8.

“Not KO of the year, Joaquin Buckley got KO of the year, that’s my son, I birthed him into the game and I’m super proud of him. I’d never take anything away from him,” Holland said. “I’m super happy the way…

UFC 256 Bonuses: Figueiredo vs. Moreno Easy Choice for ‘Fight of the Night’

Deiveson Figueiredo won’t have to wait for a bag of cash from Dana White this time around.

Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno received “Fight of the Night” honors and $50,000 apiece for their memorable headlining clash at UFC 256 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Just three weeks after both men appeared at UFC 255, Figueiredo and Moreno battled to a majority draw in a matchup that many are hailing as a “Fight of the Year” contender as well as the best bout in the history of the 125-pound division.

Elsewhere, Kevin Holland pocketed a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” award thanks to an unusual knockout of Ronaldo Souza in a featured middleweight affair. Not long after being taken down by the grappling ace, Holland eventually caught his kneeling opponent with several right hands from his back that had “Jacare” reeling. From there, Holland returned to his feet and sealed his victory with more punches to get the stoppage at the 1:45 mark of Round 1.

Figueiredo retained his Ultimate Fighting Championship flyweight crown but settled for a majority draw against Moreno in the UFC 256 headliner on Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Judge Derek Cleary scored it 48-46 for Figueiredo, while Sal D’Amato and Junichiro Kamijo saw it 47-47. A third-round point deduction for a low blow ultimately cost the Brazilian a victory in a clear contender for “Fight of the Year.”

— UFC (@ufc) December 13, 2020 Sign up for ESPN+ right here, and you can then stream UFC 256 live on your smart TV, computer, phone, tablet or streaming device via the ESPN app. Rafael Fiziev throws the kind of heat that triggers nightmares. The Phuket Top Team standout continued his climb on the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s lightweight ladder, as he cut down Renato Carneiro with a blistering three-punch combination in the first round of their UFC 256 prelim on Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Fiziev (9-1, 3-1 UFC) drew the curtain 4:05 into Round 1.

Carneiro (14-4-1, 6-4 UFC) held his own initially, honing in on the Kyrgyzstani police officer with penetrating jabs and overhand rights. However, when his first pass at a takedown failed, the American Top Team rep found himself trapped on the feet with one of the most frightening strikers in the 155-pound…

— Cage Warriors (@CageWarriors) December 12, 2020 Cage Warriors Fighting Championship crowned a new featherweight title holder in its third and final event of the “Trilogy Strikes Back” series on Saturday at York Hall in London.

In the main event of Cage Warriors 119, Morgan Charriere (16-7-1) locked horns with Perry Goodwin (10-8) for the vacant featherweight belt. “The Last Pirate” started testing Goodwin’s chin with heavy combinations as soon as the fight began, but it was Charriere’s kicks that impacted his opponent the most. A few minutes into the contest, Goodwin was already bearing the marks of his opponent’s shots.

In the second stanza, Charriere involuntarily hit Goodwin with a low blow. After recovering from it, “The Predator” took some severe punishment to his lead leg …

Lightweights Drakkar Klose, Jai Herbert to Meet at UFC’s Feb. 20 Event

A lightweight matchup pitting Drakkar Klose against Jai Herbert has been added to the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Feb. 20 lineup.

MMAjunkie.com was first to report the booking. The Fight Night card does not have an official location or headliner yet, but it does include a pivotal women’s bantamweight showdown between Yana Kunitskaya and Ketlen Vieira.

Klose had a three-bout winning streak snapped in his last outing, as he suffered a second-round knockout loss to Beneil Dariush at UFC 248. The 32-year-old Fight Ready product is 5-2 in the Octagon and 11-2-1 as a professional overall, with notable wins against the likes of Bobby Green, Lando Vannata and Marc Diakiese.

A former Cage Warriors lightweight champion, Herbert was stopped in the third round by Francisco Trinaldo in his promotional debut at UFC on ESPN 14. Prior to that, “The Black Country Banger” had won six consecutive fights while competing in Cage Warrior and BAMMA.

UFC 256 Weigh-in Results: Title Fight Set As All Fighters Make Weight

Silenced the doubters

@Daico_Deiveson is the first to make weight for #UFC256! pic.twitter.com/FMFJmiJ48K

— UFC (@ufc) December 11, 2020 Sign up for ESPN+ right here, and you can then stream UFC 256 live on your smart TV, computer, phone, tablet or streaming device via the ESPN app. The Ultimate Fighting Championship will put on its final pay-per-view event of 2020 this Saturday. Headlining UFC 256 is a flyweight title defense as champion Deiveson Figueiredo takes on Brandon Moreno in what is a three-week turnaround for both fighters. The 10-fight card is now official after the weigh-ins took place and all fighters made weight including backup fighter Manel Kape (124.5).

A frontrunner for fighter of the year, Figueiredo (20-1) will look to improve to 4-0 inside the Octagon this year. “Daico” claimed the vacant flyweight belt after choking out Joseph Benavidez earlier this year and followed that up with another submission over Alex Per…

Nathias Frederick Smashes Jamie Richardson, Retains Middleweight Belt at CW 118

One shot KO powerThe champ Nathias Frederick with the shot of the night, successfully defending his Middleweight Title in the process.

What a way to end #CW118 pic.twitter.com/S9dJna9Xfx

— Cage Warriors (@CageWarriors) December 11, 2020 Cage Warriors Fighting Championship sailed through the second of the three back-to-back events, which went down on Dec. 11. In the main event of CW 118, Nathias Frederick (9-2-1) defended his 185-pound championship by rendering Jamie Richardson (9-6) unconscious. “Notorious” put Richardson on high alert after the beginning of the match, dropping “Young Gun” with one of his haymakers. After Richardson recovered, Frederick attempted to land with his punches more and more, but he looked unstable on his feet as if he was sliding on the canvas. Strangely, Richardson didn’t have the same issue, and right before the end of the round, he took “Notorious” down from where he limited himself to control without doing …

Tomorrow night's full card, including both title fights, has been made official

— Cage Warriors (@CageWarriors) December 11, 2020 On Friday morning, Cage Warriors Fighting Championship held the weigh-ins for its upcoming third and final part of “The Trilogy Strikes Back” series.

In the main event of CW 119, Morgan Charriere (15-7-1) will get a second chance to win the vacant featherweight belt. The French fighter should have headlined CW 113, but the COVID-19 outbreak forced the promotion to change its plans. In September, “The Last Pirate” tested positive for COVID-19 before his title clash at CW 116. Today, Charriere looked good as he hit the scales at 143.9 pounds.

England’s own Perry Goodwin (10-7) will lock horns with Charriere. “The Predator” earned his title shot following back-to-back victories over S…

One Championship aired the pre-recorded second part of the One: Big Bang series on Dec. 11.

The One: Big Bang 2 main event featured a much-anticipated muay Thai contest in One’s flyweight division between Jonathan Haggerty and Taiki Naito. Trainer: Smaller Octagon Will Function Like a Gi for ‘Jacare’ at UFC 256

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W82px22z39w&w=560&h=315] Sign up for ESPN+ right here, and you can then stream UFC 256 live on your smart TV, computer, phone, tablet or streaming device via the ESPN app. Josuel Distak, head coach of Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight Ronaldo Souza, is optimistic about the return of his fighter against Kevin Holland at UFC 256. On Thursday, Portal de Vale Tudo spoke with Distak about his fighter and the preparation for the event. “Jacare” was originally booked to face Marvin Vettori, but when Holland tested positive for COVID-19, the promotion switched the fighters to make Vettori fight Jack Hermansson and matched Holland against Souza.

“Even with the fighters changed two weeks before the event, our game plan did not change too much after they changed Vettori for Holland,” Distak admitted. “Kevin is a really tough kid, but he is facing the best Jacare, and the smaller octagon will work like a gi for him.”

The Brazil…
