Tatiana Suarez is expected to make her flyweight debut against Roxanne Modafferi at UFC 266.

Multiple outlets confirmed the targeted booking following an initial report from Ariel Helwani. UFC 266 takes place on Sept. 25 and is headlined by a light heavyweight championship clash between Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira.

Suarez has not competed since a unanimous decision triumph over Nina Ansaroff at UFC 238 in June 2019. The 30-year-old Milennia MMA representative has been sidelined since then due to a neck injury. “The Ultimate Fighter 23” winner also owns triumphs over Carla Esparza, Alexa Grasso, Viviane Pereira and Amanda Bobby Brundage in UFC competition. All of her previous Octagon victories came at 115 pounds.

Modafferi, 38, is 4-6 over the course of two stints in the Las Vegas-based promotion. “The Happy Warrior” last appeare…

Ciryl Gane Listed as Significant Favorite in Interim Title Bout vs. Derrick Lewis

Ciryl Gane is a solid favorite to claim interim gold when he squares off against Derrick Lewis at UFC 265.

According to online oddsmaker BetOnline, Gane is a -315 favorite in the heavyweight bout, while Lewis is listed as a +265 underdog. Odds are subject to change as the fight approaches. The promotion announced Monday that Gane and Lewis will meet for the interim belt in the UFC 265 headliner because reigning champ Francis Ngannou reportedly wouldn’t be ready to defend his crown by the Aug. 7 date of the event.

A Houston native, Lewis is currently on a four-bout winning streak within the Las Vegas-based promotion and is coming off a second-round knockout of Curtis Blaydes in the UFC Fight Night 185 main event on Feb. 20.

Gane is 9-0 since beginning his professional MMA career in 2018, a ledger that includes six triumphs in the Octagon. The Frenchman has scored back-to-back five-round verdicts over Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Alexander Volkov in his last two pro…

Khabib Nurmagomedov Gives Assessment of Dustin Poirier-Conor McGregor Trilogy

Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has a pretty simple assessment when it comes to the third meeting between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor.

Poirier and McGregor will square off for a third time in the UFC 264 headliner at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on July 10. McGregor defeated Poirier via first-round TKO in their first bout at UFC 178 in 2014, while “The Diamond” got his revenge with a second-round stoppage at UFC 257 on Jan. 23. “The Eagle” secured submission victories over both men when he was UFC champion.

“It’s the same thing [as the previous fights],” Khabib told RT Sport. “If it’s the first round [for a finish], I’d back Conor. From the second and further, then Dustin [wins].”

Nurmagomedov retired from MMA following a victory over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 last October, and despite the UFC’s best efforts to convince him to return, the Dagestani grappler has remained on the sidelines. Nurmagomedov is enjoying watching the lightwe…

Rejuvenated Ex-UFC Champ Renan Barao Wants to Participate in 2022 PFL Season

Once referred to by Dana White as the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in MMA in 2014, former UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao is experiencing what he calls a rebirth in the sport.

Some 19 months after five consecutive losses prompted his UFC release, Barao is hungry to make a comeback.

"The most important thing for a fighter is to be happy. I had the best structure, the best sparring and best trainers in the world at American Top Team, but I was not happy. It was necessary for a rival to extend his hand to me,” Barao told Sherdog.com. "There was a big local rivalry between me and Patricio [Freire]; everyone in our city (Natal) wanted to see us face each other. Last year, I saw him say in an interview that he would love to help me return to being the great champion I once was, inviting me to return to Natal and train at Pitbull Brothers gym.

“I immediately asked a friend to put me in contact with Patricky and returned to Natal. I was received with open arms at…

UFC Books Derrick Lewis-Ciryl Gane Interim Heavyweight Title Bout for Aug. 7

An interim heavyweight championship tilt pitting Derrick Lewis against Ciryl Gane has been added to the UFC 265 pay-per-view lineup on Aug. 7.

UFC president Dana White informed broadcast partner ESPN of the booking, which came about because reigning heavyweight king Francis Ngannou wouldn’t be ready to defend his belt by August. The promotion tried to book Ngannou vs. Lewis in June and again at UFC 265 without success.

Lewis vs. Gane will officially serve as the UFC 265 main event, and the card will take place in Houston. Amanda Nunes will defend the bantamweight crown against Julianna Pena in the evening’s co-headliner.

Ngannou’s team was surprised by the suddenness of the interim championship announcement. The Cameroonian-born Frenchman claimed the heavyweight throne with a second-round KO of Stipe Miocic in the UFC 260 headliner on March 27.

"This comes as a complete shock," Ngannou's agent, Marquel Martin, told ESPN. "To make an interim title so soon,…

Renato ‘Moicano’ Eyes Matchups with Lightweights Islam Makhachev, Gregor Gillespie

Renato Carneiro is beginning to settle in comfortably in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s lightweight division.

“Moicano” improved to 2-1 since moving to 155 pounds on Saturday, as he submitted Jai Herbert with a rear-naked choke 4:34 into the second round of their bout at UFC Fight Night 190 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

“We specifically trained to take him down and take his back,” Carneiro said. “I was planning to do this, but what I expected was to finish him in the first round. I watched all his fights and he always gave up his back. I think he knew what I was going to do so he kept avoiding giving me his back, but in the second round, I was going strong in the ground and pound, he gave me his back and I got the rear-naked choke.”

The Brazilian was in complete control throughout his matchup with Herbert, but he learned a valuable lesson from the fight before his, where Danilo Marques gassed himself out hunting for a rear-naked choke in a third-round TKO …

Timur Valiev Seeks ‘Payback’ Against Trevin Jones After UFC Fight Night 190 Victory

Timur Valiev was one of the largest betting favorites on the card heading into his UFC on ESPN 15 showdown with Trevin Jones last August.

Things appeared to be going according to plan in a dominant Round 1 for the Dagestani bantamweight before Jones unleashed a counter left hook that dropped Valiev in the second frame to secure a massive upset victory. Though the result was later overturned to a no contest after Jones tested positive for marijuana, the loss still resonates with Valiev, who has since rebounded to win his next two promotional appearances. The former PFL and WSOF talent doesn’t mind admitting that revenge is something that drives him.

“It would be good to fight against Trevin Jones after our first fight. I want my payback,” Valiev said. “We are highlanders, we are guys from mountains. This guy, Raoni Barcelos, he beat my friend Said Numargomedov and we always pay back. If Trevin fights me again — I know he will, I respect him — but if we fight again, I’m…
