The Cage Warriors middleweight championship will be on the line in
the
CW 157 main event. Reigning titleholder Mick
Stanton will put his belt up for grabs against challenger
James
Webb in a highly anticipated rematch. Both men made weight, as
did the rest of the card, with the exception of Tom Mearns
(150.4). The would-be featherweight came in 4.4 pounds heavy for
his fight against Bailey
Gilbert, and has been fined a hefty 50% of his purse.
Stanton (11-7) claimed the title in his last fight, a unanimous
decision win over Will
Currie. The Liverpool native has won five of his last six
fights, with the lone defeat coming to Marcin
Wojcik via submission. He’ll look to keep his momentum alive
and retain the belt. „The Huyton Hammer“ stepped on the scale at
184.7 pounds.
Meanwhile, Webb (9-4-1) has only won once in his last three
outings. The 33-year-old former champion snapped a two-fight skid
that saw him finished by Leon Aliu and
Matthew
Bonner by winning a decision over Paddy
McCorry. He’ll look to reclaim the belt he lost in 2019 and
look to go 2-0 against Stanton, who he defeated via decision in
2020. Webb officially weighed 184.6 pounds.
Cage Warriors 157 will air live on UFC Fight Pass on Friday.
Prelims begin at 12:30 p.m. ET/9:30 a.m. PT, while the main card
starts at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT.
