The
Bellator 284 weigh-ins were anything but a formality, with
multiple fighters missing weight and one bout scratched as a
result.

Yamauchi meet in the main event of
Bellator 284. While the headliners had no issue making weight,
the same couldn’t be said for the rest of the card. The most
notable miss came from former flyweight champion Ilima-Lei
Macfarlane, who came in at 129 pounds for her bout against
Bruna
Ellen and looked extremely disappointed on the scale. Fellow
flyweight Justine
Kish weighed in 2.4 pounds over the limit as well, and both she
and Macfarlane have been fined a percentage of their respective
purses. Finally, prelim competitor Nick Perez
clocked in 1.4 pounds over the lightweight limit, and his pairing
with Isaiah
Hokit has been canceled as a result.

Riding a professional record of 11-3, Gracie has fought all but two
fights inside the Bellator cage. Since starting 11-0, Gracie has
since lost three of his last five, including high-profile matchups
against Logan
Storley, Jason
Jackson and Rory
MacDonald. The Brazilian will look to get back to his winning
ways, and stepped on the scale at 170.4 pounds.
Meanwhile, Yamauchi (27-5) is riding a two-fight win streak, and
has won five of his last six appearances. Coming off submitting
Levan
Chokheli with an armbar and a TKO win over Christopher
Gonzalez, Yamauchi is looking to cement himself as a top
welterweight in the promotion. The Japanese fighter officially
weighed 170 pounds on the dot.
Bellator 284’s main card will air live on Showtime at 9 p.m. ET/6
p.m. PT on Friday. Prelims will stream on the promotion’s YouTube
channel starting at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT.
