Aljamain
Sterling
doesn’t agree with the scorecards of the
UFC London
main event between Movsar
Evloev
and Lerone
Murphy

Evloev (20-0) and Murphy (17-0) traded leather in a featherweight
title eliminator at UFC London on Saturday. It was a
closely-contested affair, and Evloev won Rounds 1, 3, and 5 on two
of the judges’ scorecards. Meanwhile, one judge gave Murphy the
first round, and all three gave him the second round. Despite
getting deducted a point in Round 4, Evloev earned a majority
decision victory.

Sterling has voiced his doubts about the scoring criteria following
Evloev’s win. Sterling posted a screenshot showing most of the MMA
media members scoring it a draw and a few scoring in favor of
Murphy. Even after rewatching the fight, “Funkmaster” is convinced
that the fight should have been a draw at most in the best-case
scenario for Evloev.

“Just rewatched the first 3 rounds again,” Sterling wrote. “We’re
all confused on how scoring works in this sport. It’s still seems
more subjective than criteria based. RD1: very close but more
activity from Murphy. RD2: close still but Murphy ahead on strikes.
RD3: really tight until the last 25 sec where Movsar opens a cut on
Murphy. Does that steal the RD?? RD 4&5: Clear for Movsar.
Point deduction. This fight is a draw, if RD3 is scored for
Movsar.”

Sterling (25-5) has only lost a decision against Evloev since
moving up to featherweight. The former bantamweight champion has
rebounded from the loss with a win over Brian
Ortega
. Sterling is now scheduled to fight Youssef
Zalal
(18-5) at
UFC Fight Night 274
on April 25 in Las Vegas.
