Pereira will puts his light heavyweight title on the line against
Magomed
Ankalaev
in the main event at UFC 313
on March 8 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Cormier recently
expressed some concern about Pereira’s
preparation for the upcoming fight based on his recent
activity.

Pereira was spotted in Sydney, Australia, earlier this month when
the promotion returned to the country for UFC 312.
“Poatan” was also seen meeting and greeting rapper Drake during his
concert in Sydney.

Cormier is worried about Pereira catching the infamous “Drake
curse” if the musician bets on him. A betting enthusiast, Drake
putting his money on an athlete or team is believed to be bad luck
for them, often leading to loss. Fighters like Conor
McGregor
, Mike Tyson, Israel
Adesanya
and even Pereira himself have been victims of the
same.

Drake bet $500,000 on Pereira to beat Adesanya in their rematch at
UFC 287, where “The Last Stylebender” knocked the Brazilian out.
However, “Poatan” has broken the curse as well when Drake wagered
$650,000 on him at UFC 300, where he knocked out Jamahal
Hill
.

However, Cormier is even more concerned about why Pereira is in
Australia a month ahead of a title fight. “DC” also said that
Ankalaev seemingly completely “locked in” when they met at the UFC
Performance Institute recently. However, Pereira assures Cormier
that there’s nothing to worry about. The light heavyweight champ
posted a video of himself training with his longtime mentor and
coach Glover
Teixeira
at Teixeira MMA and Fitness in Bethel, Connecticut,
while addressing Cormier.

“Don’t worry [Daniel Cormier]. We’re over here working,” Pereira
wrote on Instagram.
