In this era of the
Ultimate Fighting Championship
, fights are not official until
the cage door closes.

The UFC rolls on with its busy August with
UFC on ESPN 15
. The card is headlined by former lightweight
champion Frankie
Edgar
making his bantamweight debut against Pedro
Munhoz
. Despite two straight losses to Chan Sung
Jung
and Max
Holloway
, Edgar (23-8-1) once again finds himself headlining a
UFC event. “The Answer” has spent the past seven years at
featherweight and had plenty of success despite never gaining a
second title. He’ll look to cement himself as a threat at 135
pounds with a victory at the expense of Munhoz. Ever the
professional, Edgar has no issue making weight and came in at 135.5
pounds.

Also coming off a loss is Munhoz (18-4, 1 NC), who dropped a
decision to top contender Aljamain
Sterling
. Prior to that setback, the Brazilian had racked up
three wins including a knockout over former champion Cody
Garbrandt
. “The Young Punisher,” who is 33, officially weighed
136 pounds.

The 10-fight card has undergone some substantial changes for a
myriad of reasons on Friday. According to a report from TASS on Thursday,
Mark
Striegl
tested positive for COVID-19, which led to Trevin
Jones
taking a short-notice match against Timur
Valiev
at a 140-pound catchweight. Additionally, Takashi
Sato
made weight at 170.5 pounds, but when he was unable to
clear his medicals, his match with Daniel
Rodriguez
was canceled. Finally, Calen Born
did not attend weigh-ins, and his bout against Dwight
Grant
was also scratched. The promotion has since announced
that welterweights Rodriguez and Grant will be paired up to keep
them on the card.

UFC on ESPN 15 will kick off with preliminary action on ESPN+ at 6
p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT. The main card will then air at 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30
p.m. PT on ESPN and ESPN+.
