Alex
Pereira is a big fan of fellow knockout artist Carlos
Prates.
Pereira recently named Prates, Mauricio
Ruffy, Charles
Oliveira and Jean Silva
among his favorite Brazilian fighters to watch in the
Ultimate Fighting Championship. The former two-division
champion also claimed Prates is the second-highest-paid Brazilian
on the roster.

Why Carlos Prates stands out to Alex Pereira
Prates (24-7), who has finished all seven of his UFC victories,
will face Michael
Morales (19-0) for the interim welterweight title at UFC
336 on Jan. 30, 2027, at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. Pereira
explained why the welterweight contender is his favorite countryman
to watch.
“I like Prates, Ruffy, Charles, and Jean Silva—all those guys,”
Pereira said on the “Connect Cast” podcast. “The first one I really
enjoy watching… I mean, I like knockouts, you know? Prates, in
particular—he’s the man! I don’t really watch many fights, but if
Prates is fighting, the only way I wouldn’t watch is if I were
otherwise occupied.”
Pereira said Prates ranks behind only him among the UFC’s
highest-paid Brazilians. He hopes their success can inspire
prospects from their country to dream big.
Pereira (13-4) is coming off an unsuccessful interim heavyweight
title bid against Ciryl Gane
at
UFC Freedom 250. “Poatan” will face Sergei
Pavlovich (21-3) at UFC
335 on Dec. 12 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
