The matchup gives both contenders an opportunity to capture UFC
gold while undisputed champion Islam
Makhachev is unavailable to compete in January. Prates, a
Brazilian knockout artist, will face Morales, an undefeated
Ecuadorian who has won all seven of his UFC appearances.

Belt

Prates (24-7) has won three consecutive fights by knockout or
technical knockout and has finished all seven of his UFC victories.
Morales (19-0) will look to preserve his unbeaten record, with the
winner expected to face Makhachev in a title unification bout. Responding to a fan on Instagram on Friday, Prates suggested
Makhachev would not be his next opponent: “I heard that Islam don’t
even wanna fight bro. How he gonna beat me?”

Makhachev (29-1) won the welterweight title against Jack
Della Maddalena last year and defended it against Ian Garry in
August. Garry handed Prates his only UFC defeat.

Joshua Van to defend UFC flyweight title against Manel Kape at
UFC 336

Also on the card, UFC flyweight champion Joshua Van
will defend his title against Manel
Kape.

Van, one of the youngest champions in UFC history, will put his
125-pound belt on the line against the former
Rizin Fighting Federation bantamweight champion.

The UFC announced the matchups Saturday during its
UFC 333 broadcast. UFC 336 is scheduled for Jan. 30, 2027, at
Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.
