Jon
Jones believes his victory over Stipe
Miocic was a fitting conclusion to his fighting career, though
he regrets missing the
Ultimate Fighting Championship’s White House event.
Jones has not competed since stopping Miocic at UFC
309 in November 2024. Speaking to The Schmo, “Bones” reflected
on that victory and described his absence from
UFC Freedom 250 as one of his biggest regrets.

Jones said his last bout was particularly meaningful because his
father and late brother were there, along with then-President-elect
Donald Trump. He described beating Miocic, widely regarded as one
of the greatest heavyweights, as a career high point.
“I really do believe that was my last moment inside the cage – and
it was great,” Jones told The Schmo. “I got to fight, my brother
was still alive at the time, my father was there. I got to tell the
world that I love Jesus, and that will never change. I got to
salute our President. Stipe Miocic was considered the greatest
heavyweight of all time. You know, we’re both older, but to defeat
him, I don’t really see how it can get bigger than that.”
Jones nevertheless regrets missing the White House card. Before the
event, he said his team was negotiating for a spot, while UFC CEO
Dana
White maintained that Jones had never been under
consideration.
“There was the White House card,” Jones said. “That was one of the
few nights in my career where I just was thinking, ‘I should have
been there.’ I usually don’t regret decisions, but that was one of
my big regrets in life, not being a part of the White House. But if
I never fight again, I think I’m pretty damn happy.”
