Women’s strawweights kick off festivities at UFC Paris, where
Benouaich (7-2, 0-0 UFC) awaits Montenegro (6-2, 0-0 UFC) at 115
pounds. Mourad Benseghir adjudicates matters. No glove touch needed
here. Montenegro opens with a low kick and a one-two. Benouaich
answers with left hooks to the body and head. They trade in the
pocket before Montenegro snatches a collar tie and unleashes a few
knees. Benouaich snaps the Argentinian’s head back with an
uppercut, sets off another exchange and closes with combination
punching to the body and head. Fast start for both women. Another
short uppercut from Benouaich. Montenegro looks to keep the
Frenchwoman at bay with a series of front kicks. Benouaich keeps
her foot on the accelerator and lands in three-, four- and
five-punch volleys. Midway through the round. Benouaich stays
aggressive with punches. Montenegro responds with a handful of
shots of her own. They circle in the center. Benouaich cuts loose
with another burst of punches and punctuates it with right hand
over the top. Montenegro becoming a victim of volume in this one.
Another right hand over the top from Benouaich. Montenegro scores
with a front kick to the body, then targets the ribs with a
powerful round kick. Benouaich presses forward behind punches and
lands a vicious inside leg kick. Montenegro cracks her with a left
hook. They trade shots at the end of the round.

Round 2

What does the middle stanza hold for those in attendance at Accor
Arena? They trade low kicks and exchange power punches. Montenegro
stands her ground and sticks her counterpart with a straight left.
Benouaich presses forward, walks through an elbow, resets and lands
an uppercut. Nice right hand over the top from Benouaich.
Montenegro fires off one-twos and low kicks. Benouaich lands an
inside leg kicks, circles and scores with a one-two. She grabs the
collar tie and hammers the body with knees. Montenegro punctuates a
multi-strike volley with a low kick. Midway through the round.

Benouaich staggers and decks the Argentinian with a crushing right
hand, pounces in top position, unleashes ground-and-pound and
climbs to full mount. Elbows draw blood. Montenegro taking a hell
of a beating here. She turns away from contact, bleeding heavily,
and eats more shots. Montenegro’s face is barely visible because of
all the blood. Benouaich advances to the back, cinches the choke
and tightens her squeeze. Montenegro loses consciousness, resulting
in the stoppage

Round 1

Middleweights are next to the UFC Paris stage, as Duclos (10-3, 0-0
UFC) locks horns with Dias (18-5, 1-0 UFC) at 185 pounds. Mohamed
Khamallah administers the law and order. They touch gloves and get
down to it. Duclos commands the center. Dias whiffs on a spinning
back kick, then flurries with punches upstairs. Duclos lands a
glancing head kick. Dias connects with a brutal kick to the body,
then blitzes forward with a few punches. Duclos calls on his jab in
a bid to keep the Brazilian at bay. Dias blocks a high kick, then
eats a jab. He cuts loose with power punches from both hands and
connects with a right over the top. Duclos weathers the storm and
gets back to his jab. Midway through the round. Another powerful
body kick from Dias, who backs it up with a leg kick. Duclos loses
his balance and somersaults backward but manages to avoid trouble.
He pairs punches upstairs with a body kick. Dias answers with a
knee to the breadbasket and another low lick. The Brazilian punches
into the clinch and pins Duclos to the fence. The Frenchman breaks
free into open space and flicks out his jab.
Duclos clips his opponent moving in and drops him with a check left
hook. He follows up with hammerfists to seal the
deal

Round 1

They keep the UFC Paris line moving with a women’s bantamweight
affair paring Cornolle (9-4, 3-3 UFC) with Sygula (8-2, 2-1 UFC) at
135 pounds. Christophe Chapuis polices the proceedings. Away they
go. Sygula doubles up on her jab and left hook. Cornolle fires back
with a right hand over the top and a low kick. Sygura clinches,
nearly trips the Frenchwoman and presses her into the fence.
Cornolle scores with a head-and-arm throw and settles in half
guard. She exits and stands above Sygura, scoring with a few kicks
to the legs. Sygura kicks at the knees from the butt scoot
position. They stand and throw before clinching again. Cornolle
scores with knees to the body, then defends against an attempted
takedown. Back in the clinch, she delivers more knees to the body.
Two minutes to go in the round. Cornolle piles up points with knees
to the legs and body. Sygura separates with a right hand and floats
into open space. Cornolle grabs the collar tie. Sygura counters an
attempted takedown and lands in top position. She settles in half
guard, lands a few punches and works to pass. Cornolle builds a
base and gets to her feet. They trade punches in the clinch.
Cornolle feeds her opponent a few knees to the body to end the
round.

Round 2

Cornolle steps forward, and Sygura greets her with a left hook.
They clinch inside the first 20 seconds. Sygura works knees to the
body, only to get turned into the fence. Cornolle lands a few
close-range elbows. They jockey for position along the fence.
Cornolle scores with knees to the body and elbows upstairs, opening
a cut near her opponent’s left eye. Blood streams down Sygura’s
face. Thy clinch again. Cornolle lands knees to the legs and gains
double underhooks. Midway through the round. Fans sound somewhat
restless, as the action stalls. More knees from Cornolle, who
maneuvers behind her counterpart. Sygura frames a defensive kimura
but wanders into a standing arm-triangle. She bails on the choke,
and the dance against the cage begins anew. This favors Cornolle.
She trips Sygura to the floor and lands in half guard. Thirty
seconds on the clock. Cornolle postures, punches and stands. Sygula
back in the butt scoot position as time melts away.

Round 3

Looks like Sygura needs a finish to avoid the mild upset. She steps
forward with jabs and one-twos. Cornolle circles away, shoots on
the hips and secures a takedown inside the first 30 seconds. She
goes to work in full guard. Sygura scores with elbows from the
bottom. Cornolle stands, and her counterpart follows suit. Cornolle
lands a jab, ducks into the clinch and executes another takedown.
She frames an arm-triangle, cinches the choke and clears the legs.
Sygula hangs on and punches the body but loses valuable time.
Cornolle steps into full mount with the arm-triangle still in
place. Sygura sweeps into top position, drops some ground-and-pound
and flirts with a brabo choke. Cornolle stands but eats punches on
the way up. Back to the clinch they go. Cornolle works behind her
opponent and lands a few right hands to the head. Sygura breaks
free and flurries with 15 seconds left but cannot finish.

Next on the UFC Paris docket: a flyweight tilt between Aljarouj
(13-3, 0-0 UFC) and Sintes (11-3, 0-0 UFC) at 125 pounds. Marc
Goddard draws the officiating assignment. They touch gloves and
circle each other in the center of the cage. Aljarouj flips out a
few jabs and lands a low kick, then another. Sintes whiffs on a
wild right hand, looks to spin and resets. Hard inside leg kick
from Sintes, who ducks in and secures a takedown. Aljarouj sweeps
and stands. Sintes scores with a jab, switches stances and circles.
He completes another takedown but sets off a scramble. Aljarouj
gets to his feet and lands punches along the fence. Two minutes to
go. They battle for position in the clinch, amid deafening chants
from the crowd. Aljarouj knees the legs, works on a single-leg and
briefly dumps the Spaniard to the mat. Sintes stands but winds up
trapped in the clinch. He flirts with a ninja choke, then thinks
better of it. Aljarouj scores with short punches and knees in the
waning seconds.

Round 2

A closely contested first round now gives way to the second.
Aljarouj opens with an inside leg kick, then goes to work with his
jab. Sintes bounces on the balls of his feet, sprawls on an
attempted takedown and clings to a front headlock. They clinch and
separate. Sintes misses a spinning backfist. He lands an uppercut
and a knee to the body. Sintes works on a takedown. Aljarouj
sprawls and bites down on a front headlock of his own. They clinch
against the fence. Aljarouj scores with short punches to the body
before they separate. Sintes steps into a left hand over the top
and dives on a single-leg before dragging his counterpart to the
canvas. Two minutes to go. Sintes settles in top position and
scores with an elbow. He moves to half guard and climbs to mount.
Sintes drops punches and elbows, then settles back in half guard.
More elbows follow, then hammerfists. Aljarouj now bleeding from a
cut near his right eye. Sintes hunts a guillotine, goes back to his
ground-and-pound and locks in a mounted guillotine in the closing
seconds.

Round 3

The next five minutes could decide this one. Inside leg kick from
Aljarouj. Sintes shoots on the hips and dumbs the Frenchman to the
canvas. He works from half guard and scores with elbows. Aljarouj
makes a pass at a heel hook but goes nowhere. Sintes jumps back
into half guard, lands a hammerfists and threatens the neck. He
defends another heel hook and a subsequent attempt before settling
back into half guard. Sintes drops elbows and punches, all while
maintaining a dominant position. He works toward a brabo choke, but
Aljarouj explodes into top position. Ninety seconds on the clock.
Aljarouj lands punches to the body in full guard and mixes in a few
elbows, the crowd urging on his efforts. Sintes has avoided serious
damage to this point and may have already locked up the round,
depending on what happens in the final 30 seconds. More punches to
the body from Aljarouj, along with a shoulder strike and an elbow.
Strong finish from the Frenchman. Was it enough?

They touch gloves and meet in the middle. Wood jabs and feints
against the short-notice replacement. Andrusca circles on the
outside and steps into a thudding straight right. Wood denies a
takedown attempt, separates and lands a low kick. Andrusca
completes a double-leg takedown and works to secure position. Wood
eats a right hand but gets to his feet. Andrusca clinches along the
fence and lands a right hand on the break. Stout leg kick from

Andrusca nets a much-needed takedown, giving him time to recover.
He frames an arm-triangle and readjusts his grip. Wood gives Dean a
thumbs up, then sweeps and escapes to his feet. Midway through the
round. Wood stalks with his hands high. Andrusca sneaks in a jab
and an uppercut. Wood answers with a front kick to the gut.
Andrusca crashes forward and eats a left hook, then resets. Wood
presses forward behind punches and sets off an exchange. Andrusca
fires back and circles. Wood lands a low kick and follows it with a
jab. Another jumping knee from Andrusca, then follows it with an
elbow strike and a left hook. Andrusca scores with a takedown with
20 seconds on the clock and drops a 12-to-6 elbow.

Round 3

Outcome definitely in doubt heading into the final round. Win or
lose, Andrusca has established himself as a person of interest
moving forward. Wood opens with his jab, then ducks the return
fire. Andrusca sneaks in a right hook. They clinch in the center of
the cage and exchange punches. Andrusca lands a left hook, forces
Wood to sprawl and cracks him with a right. He crashes forward and
clinches, then misses a spinning back elbow on the break. Andrusca
unloads with hooks from both hands and clinches again. He makes a
pass at a single-leg, then goes back to throwing short punches.
Halfway home in this round. Andrusca stays glued to the Englishman
in the clinch. Time starting to become an issue for Wood, who is
now bleeding from a cut near his hairline. Ninety seconds on the
clock. Andrusca goes after a single-leg and completes a takedown.
Wood in a seated position at the base of the cage. Andrusca
maintains top position and lands an upward elbow followed by
punches. The Moldovan prospect appears to have salted away this
round and perhaps the decision.

Octagon to referee. Hard low kick from Sy and another. He switches
stances and attacks with another leg kick. Bukauskas fires a right
hand over the top. Sy responds with a clinch. Bukauskas breaks
free. They trade jabs. Multi-punch volley from Bukauskas. Sy jabs
to the body, lands another low kick, evades the return fire and
clinches along the fence. They exchanges knees to the body.
Bukauskas separates and circles away. Sy follows a punishing body
kick into a single-leg takedown. Sy postures and punches, mixing in
a few elbows along the way. He climbs to mount, then works to
Bukauskas back before returning to full mount. Sy drops 12-to-6
elbows. More punches and elbows ensue. Thirty seconds to go.
Bukauskas eats punches, elbows and hammerfists. Herzog warns him to
defend himself. Bukauskas escapes to his feet at the end of the
round.

Goddard provides the oversight. Expect some fireworks in this one.
They trade jabs at the start. Spann lands powerful hooks with both
hands and drops his opponent with an uppercut. Pinto gets to his
feet and walks into a guillotine. Spann bails on the choke, eats
some power punches and retreats. Wild swings from both men. They
clinch. Spann works a knee to the body, then another. Pinto answers
with a right hook that gives Spann pause. They clinch again. Pinto
presses him into the fence and taps him with knees to the inner
thigh. They separate. Pinto lands a left hook, follows it with a
jab and secures a takedown. Ground-and-pound on the kneeling Spann
ensues. Pinto drags him back to the mat and follows up with
punches. Spann stands, only to get dragged down again. Pinto
continues to punch while forcing Spann to carry his weight. Thirty
seconds left in a back-and-forth first round. They rest along the
fence.

touch. Lima looks to get his kicks in gear. Charriere responds with
a one-two. Lima switching stances early. They trade jabs. Lima
connects with a right hand over the top. Charriere scores with a
left hook and a jab, proving effective on the counter. Lima misses
on a flying knee and goes back to the leg kicks. Sharp one-two from
Charriere. Nice left hook to the body from Lima followed by a left
hook to the body. Charriere jabs to the head, feints and jabs to
the body. Lima answers with a jab of his own. One-two from
Charriere. Midway through the round. Lima lands a left hook to the
body and a right hand over the top, then returns to his jab and
mixes in a spinning backfist. Charriere fires his jab, only to eat

Back they go into the fire. Lima steps forward, light on his feet,
and lands a leg kick. He jabs at the body, then snaps off a left
hook upstairs. They trade punches in the center of the cage. Lima
doubles up on his jab and follows with a left hook. More jabs from
Lima, who has been the busier and more effective fighter from the
outset. They circle, with Lima on the outside. He sneaks in a left
hook, resets and lands a left hook-right cross combo. Front kick to
the body from Lima. Body-head flurry from Lima, who continues to
connect with three, four and sometimes five punches at a time. Lima
scores with a front kick to the body and an oblique kick to the

Charriere almost certainly needs a finish as they wade into the
third and final round. Lima jabs at the body, feints and scores
with a low kick. Oblique kick to the leg buckles Charriere’s knee.

Charriere sneaks in a right hand over the top. Lima floats into

his opponent into the fence. Lima defends the takedown, lands a
knee to the body and separates. He lands a jab and narrowly misses
a left hook. Two minutes to go. Lima circles, changes directions
and gets back to his jab. Body kick from Charriere. Lima shrugs it
off and lands a leg kick, then turns a failed jumping knee into a
modified Superman punch. Charriere blocks a head kick. Lima circles
on the outside and wobbles the Frenchman with a one-two. He sneaks
in a left hook and follows it with a stellar four-punch burst. Lima
explodes forward and lands a clubbing right hand to close it
out.

0-1 UFC) squares off with Naimov (13-4, 5-2 UFC) at 145 pounds.
Herzog adjudicates matters and beckons the combatants forward.
Keita staggers his opponent with an early left hook. Naimov tries
to clinch but goes nowhere. Back in open space, Keita stalks from
the center and punches in combination. Naimov already bleeding from
a cut near his left eye. Keita connects with a short right hook,
resets and lands a one-two. Naimov whiffs on a wheel kick. Keita
drops Naimov with a jab, pounces with punches and allows the
Tajikistan native to stand. Midway through the round. All Keita so
far.
Keita steps in and zaps Naimov with a vicious one-two. An
unconscious Naimov freezes on the end of the overhand right and
nosedives to the canvas. No follow-up shots were
required

Campbell (8-1, 0-1 UFC) dukes it out with Peek (9-3, 2-3 UFC) at

Front kick to the body from Campbell followed by an inside leg
kick. Another front kick to the body from Campbell. They trade leg
kicks. Campbell gets Peek’s attention with a head kick. Peek
bleeding from a cut near his right eye. Nice one-two from Campbell
and another front kick to the body. They clinch and trade knees
along the fence. Campbell scores with a takedown. Peek stands, only
to be dragged down again. The scene repeats itself. Midway through
the round. Campbell slams his opponent to the canvas again. Peak
gets back to his feet but eats a knee to the side of the head.
Campbell records another takedown and climbs to full mount.
Elbow-laced ground-and-pound ensues. Not a good look for Peek.
Campbell continues to rain down elbows and punches, then sneaks

Peek plows ahead behind his jab, then wings hooks to the body from
both hands. Campbell clinches and completes the takedown. He works
behind Peek, drives an elbow into the side of his head and piles up
points with punches. Campbell stays glued to the American, allowing
him little room to breathe much less operate. Peek stands and
punches but cannot shake the Englishman. Campbell trips him back to
the floor and moves to the back. He ultimately settles in half
guard and drops elbows. More punches from Campbell, who advances to
the back and sets the body triangle. Ninety seconds to go in the
round. Campbell threatens the neck in between punches. Peek manages

off a takedown and eats another head kick. Peek looks to get his
jab in gear. Campbell dives on a single-leg and presses the
American into the fence, then trips him to the canvas. Peek gets
back to his feet but cannot shake free. Campbell drives him to his
knees and works behind him. Peak stands, only to get dragged down
again. Campbell threatens the neck between punches, then advances
to the back with a body triangle. Fans boo, though no one can deny
the effectiveness of Campbell’s approach.
He finally snakes his arm under the chin, bites down on the choke
and becomes the first man to finish Peek

Round 1

Next on the UFC Paris lineup: a welterweight confrontation between
Donchenko (14-2, 3-0 UFC) and Soriano (13-4, 7-4 UFC) at 170
pounds. Goddard presides over the proceedings. They greet one
another with a glove touch to get started. Donchenko rips power
punches in the pocket, then receives a warning about extending his
fingers. He feints his jab and lands a body kick. Soriano operates
from the center of the cage. Front kick to the body from Donchenko,
who then steps into a right hand over the top. Soriano dives on a
single-leg and presses the Ukrainian into the fence. They clinch,
and Donchenko connects with an elbow. He fires a low kick, resets
and drops Soriano with a blistering combination. The Hawaiian
clings to a single leg and eats elbows to the side of the head, but
he manages to stand. Donchenko steps into a clubbing right hand, a
spinning back kick to the body and a right hand to the gut. Soriano
dives on a single-leg but goes nowhere. They reset on the feet.
Ninety seconds left. Donchenko alternates between body blows and
low kicks. Stabbing front kick to the body from Donchenko. A weary
Soriano swings and misses. Donchenko circles on the outside in the
waning seconds.

Round 2

Soriano needs a drastic shift in momentum as the march into the
middle stanza. Donchenko attacks the lead leg with kicks, switches
stances and unleashes hooks from both hands. Massive gap in
athleticism between the two men. Soriano closes the distance with
an overhand left. Another savage storm of hooks from Donchenko, who
goes low with a kick. The inadvertent foul results in a pause to
the action. Front kick to the body from Soriano on the restart.
Donchenko answers with a powerful low kick. Midway through the
round. Not as much output from Donchenko in this round. He steps
into a right hand and sets off an exchange. Soriano lands nothing
of note. The Hawaiian whiffs on a sweeping left hook. Donchenko
retreats, circles and zeroes in on the body with punches. Ninety
seconds on the clock. Hard leg kick from Donchenko, who then fires
a one-two to the body. Donchenko doubles up on the left hook, one
to the body and another to the head. Soriano swings and misses.
Donchenko jabs at the body. Soriano ducks in and briefly takes down
his opponent, then lands a glancing head kick. Donchenko shows no
ill effects.

Round 3

They embrace each other out of respect to start the third round.
Body kick from Soriano. Donchenko doubles up on his jab and fires a
right hand to the body. Donchenko steps into a right hand and
uncorks hooks in combination. Soriano blocks them but still finds
himself in a state of retreat. He ducks in on a single-leg and
drags Donchenko to the floor. Soriano rolls into a banana split but
eats a series of elbows to the side of the head. Soriano bails, and
a stalemate ensues. Donchenko stands and braces himself along the
fence. He drives elbows into the side of Soriano’s head but gets
taken down anyway. Soriano hammers away with knees to the thigh,
then lands a few left hands to the side of the head. Donchenko
stands and turns to face him. Soriano hoists him and slams him to
the mat. They spend the final seconds in the clinch.

slotting Page (25-3, 4-1 UFC) opposite Ruziboev (37-9-2, 5-1 UFC)
at 185 pounds. Herzog draws the officiating assignment. The green
light has been given. Page lands a leg kick but concedes a takedown
inside the first 10 seconds. Ruziboev operates from side control.
Page traps him in an attempted buggy choke and slows progress
briefly. Ruziboev frees himself and settles in full guard. He lands
an elbow over the top, short punches to the body and another elbow.
Page struggling to neutralize his opponent. More elbows from
Ruziboev. Midway through the round. Action slows to a crawl. Page
shrimps toward the fence and tries to build a base. He stands with
90 seconds left on the clock. Ruziboev stays glued to him but eats
a few elbows to the side of the head. They go chest to chest in the
clinch. Ruziboev scores with shoulder strikes as the fans boo. More
clinching. Page frees himself and goes to work in the center of the
cage. He lands a clubbing right hand over the top, stays light on
his feet and cracks Ruziboev with a counter right in the closing
seconds.

Round 2

With Ruziboev’s approach now clear, the question now involves
whether or not Page can answer it. Ruziboev circles on the outside.
Page lunges in with a right hand and presses his opponent into the
fence. He lands knees to the thighs and separates. Page stalks from
the center of the cage but looks a little gun-shy. He delivers a
stomp to the lead leg and pauses to mock Ruziboev, whose knee bent
inward at an awkward angle. Page dodges an overhand right and seems
intent on forcing a mistake from his opponent. Midway through the
round. They clinch, and Page lands a knee to the body, follows it
with a shoulder strike and initiates some foot stomps. They
separate. Page steps into a left hook, evades the return fire and
stomps the knee again. Ruziboev catches the leg and drives forward
but cannot secure the takedown. Page considers an aerial attack,
thinks better of it and fires a right hand over the top. Not sure
why Ruziboev has abandoned the wrestling. He lands a right near the
end of the round.

Round 3

Anyone’s fight at the start of the third one. Ruziboev steps into
an overhand right. Page answers with one of his own but with far
more impact, then taunts his counterpart. Ruziboev drives into a
single-leg and secures the takedown, settling in full guard. Page
gets to his feet with surprisingly little trouble. They clinch
along the fence. Ruziboev lands a knee below the belt, resulting in
a brief pause. They get back to it in the center of the cage. Page
carries his hands low and bounces on his feet. Fans boo the
inaction. Two minutes to go. More staring than fighting going on.
Page crashes forward with a clubbing right hand. They clash heads
but emerge no worse for it. Boos grow louder. Page flicks out his
jab, then lands an overhand right. They clinch to end it. Rough
look for both men.
