Fazil says he was jumped by a group inside his hotel room
leading up to his loss at
Dana White’s Contender Series.
Fazil suffered a brutal knockout loss against Kaik Brito
in the main event of
Week 2 of DWCS 2026 on Tuesday. Fazil claims his performance
was affected due to an altercation during his weight cut.

Namo Fazil details alleged confrontation during weight cut
before Kaik Brito fight
According to Fazil, he was already drained, with just a few pounds
left to cut, when he heard a knock on his hotel door. As his coach
opened the door, around 15 Chechens allegedly entered the room and
confronted Fazil.
He claims one of them slapped him, trying to provoke him to fight.
Fazil eventually reacted after he was slapped a second time. His
coaches then intervened and tried to de-escalate the situation
before the cops showed up.
“While cutting weight for my Dana White’s Contender Series fight,
about 15 Chechens showed up at the hotel room where I was staying
on weigh-in day. I was in the sauna,” Fazil said on Instagram in
his native language. “I had blankets on me because I was cold and
trying to sweat out a bit more. I was completely exhausted. My
family had gone out. My coaches were playing Xbox in the room,
while I was lying down. About three minutes later, the door was
knocked on hard. My coach opened the door, and about 15 people came
in. They were Chechens. They had come there with a purpose. I
didn’t want to fight, but in the end, I had to defend myself. This
wasn’t a fight I wanted. I told him I wouldn’t throw the first
punch. Then he came at me and slapped me. I said, ‘Be a man. If you
want to fight, we’ll fight. I’m not afraid of you.’ Then he slapped
me a second time. At that point, I stood up and started throwing
punches. Things got chaotic in an instant. My coaches were trying
to break up the fight by pushing people away. Finally, the police
arrived and saw what was happening. There were about 15 of them.
What could I have done if they’d all come at me? And this happened
at a moment when I was physically almost dead from cutting
weight.”
Fazil had allegedly talked trash about Chechnya in the lead-up to
his win over Chechen fighter Yakub
Sulimanov last year. Notably, Khamzat
Chimaev’s teammate and fellow
Ultimate Fighting Championship athlete Baisangur
Susurkaev posted cryptic Instagram stories immediately after
Fazil’s knockout loss.
