How Paddy Pimblett submitted Benoit St. Denis in 52
seconds
It took Pimblett only 52 seconds to defeat St. Denis, who put
himself directly in harm’s way by going for an early takedown.
After his dominant win, the Brit explained how he secured the
finish. He claimed that he hadn’t performed the move in a very long
time but was able to improvise because of his jiu-jitsu skills.
“Oh, I have never done that before,” Pimblett said at the
post-fight presser. “I just did that on the fly. That’s how good my
jiu-jitsu is. My jiu-jitsu is the best in the world.”
Who Paddy Pimblett wants next in the UFC lightweight
division
When asked about what’s next, Pimblett revealed that he isn’t
targeting one specific matchup. Rather, he wants whatever moves him
closer to another title shot.
“I wanna be world champion,” he added. “I wanna be champion of the
world. I wanna be the best…. And I am gonna do that. I know that’s
in my destiny… Whether it’s the next fight or the next 10 fights. I
am gonna be a world champion.”
Pimblett fought for the interim lightweight title earlier this
year, losing to Justin
Gaethje. He claims he’s open to rematching Gaethje for the
undisputed title next, but is also open to fighting Arman
Tsarukyan, Ilia
Topuria or former champion Charles
Oliveira.
