The FBI revealed on Tuesday that it was able to halt a potential
terrorist threat that targeted the
UFC White House event and its attendees this past Sunday.
According to Fox News, the alleged plan included using
explosive-laden drones to force an evacuation, where crowds would
be directed toward an area with snipers in place. The group
included a “second wave,” which planned to storm the White House
gate, per the report.

As of Monday, five people were in custody — with 23 in total
identified as part of the alleged terrorist plot. One of those
arrested was 19-year-old Tycen Proper, of Danville, Ohio, who
according to the Columbus Dispatch, is charged in U.S. District
Court in Columbus with conspiracy to commit an offense against the
United States, attempted murder of any officer or employee of the
United States, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of
violence and receipt or transfer of a firearm used to commit a
felony.
Proper has been identified by federal prosecutors as one of the
group’s leaders. Court documents reveal that Proper used $3,000 of
graduation money to purchase equipment for that alleged attack that
included “an estimated thousands of rounds of ammunition, two plate
carriers with AR-style magazines, an AR-style rifle and a bullpup
rifle painted with an American flag.” Proper’s mother alerted
authorities after she became concerned about her son’s behavior. In
a sworn affadavit provided to the FBI, Proper’s mother revealed
that her son had been interacting with a group that claimed to be
former military and “Christian-based” that expressed „ultra-religious and anti-government sentiments, specifically
citing grievances about government corruption, the handling of the
Epstein files, data centers taking up all the water in communities
and other government actions.”
Court records state that Proper hoped to “‘jumpstart’ a revolution
in the United States” with the attack. Another suspect told
investigators that the primary targets were “capitalist elites,”
billionaires” and politicians who received donations from the
American Israel Public Affairs Committee.
The FBI, which reportedly first learned of the terrorist threat on
June 10, collaborated with the Department of Justice, the Secret
Service and other law enforcement partners to thwart the alleged
plot.
„While the result represented the best of investigative work, it
was also nothing out of the ordinary for this law enforcement
team,“ FBI Director Patel told Fox News. „We are built to detect,
respond to, and bring to justice those who threaten the lives of
American citizens — particularly during large gatherings like the
historic UFC 250 fight. That’s exactly what we did here.
„I want to thank our great agents and partners, this work remains
ongoing, and we will continue to update the public as
permitted.”

Blissfully Unaware
According to Fox News, the UFC White House event drew approximately
4,300 attendees — including 1,200 active-duty military members and
President Donald Trump, whose birthday was on June 14. The crowd
included another 80,000 for a watch party at the nearby Ellipse
Park. Trump said he was not aware of the planned attack.
“I haven’t heard about it,” Trump said in an interview posted by
Aaron Rupar on social media. “The attack that I watched were the
fighters. … They were as good a fights as I’ve ever seen, the best.
That last fight was brutal and the two last—all of the fights were
good. It was all good, it was a great evening, it was very
different for the White House.”
UFC White House featured seven bouts and saw Justin
Gaethje claim the undisupted lightweight crown with a
fourth-round stoppage of Ilia
Topuria in the evening’s headliner. In the co-main event,
Ciryl
Gane captured interim heavyweight gold with a finish of former
two-division champ Alex
Pereira. The start of the event was delayed approximately one
hour due to weather concerns in the Washington, D.C., area.
