Hernandez is excited for his upcoming clash against Sean
Strickland.
Hernandez is scheduled to fight Strickland in the main event at
UFC Houston on Saturday. Strickland is known as a wild
character who doesn’t know easy sparring and often faces backlash
for his unhinged comments. Hernandez loves the energy that
Strickland brings. And if Strickland wants to throw caution to the
wind, “Fluffy” vows to match the energy.

“This one actually makes me super f—-ing excited because I love the
matched energy,” he told the UFC. “If someone wants to get crazy, it’s like,
‘Bitch, run it.’ I’m all in for it. I’m actually really looking
forward to this fight. It makes me super excited. I get to go out
there, show what I can do against a tough motherf—-er that everyone
respects.”
The Perfect Fight
While Hernandez is known for wearing down his opponents, Strickland
is also known for his forward pressure. Strickland’s elite
defensive striking is often the perfect counter for pressure
grapplers like Hernandez. However, Hernandez believes the former
UFC middleweight champion is stylistically the perfect matchup for
him.
“I’m going to make it happen,” he said. “You know me. I find my
same ways always there, man. I’m telling you, the way he fights, I
think it’s like stylistically the perfect fight for me. I think
he’s very good, and I respect the f—k out of him. I know he’s
tough. I know what he brings to the table, but I think I’m
different. I believe that I’m worthy to be the world champion.”
Strickland (29-7) has now sandwiched a win over Paulo Costa
between two title losses against Dricus Du
Plessis. Meanwhile, Hernandez (15-2) is on an eight-fight
winning streak with six finishes and four performance
bonuses.
