A heavyweight showdown pitting Derrick
Lewis against Tallison
Teixeira will serve as the main event for UFC
Nashville on July 12.
Laerte Viana was first to report the booking. The UFC Fight Night event takes
place at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and is also expected to
include a featherweight clash between Calvin
Kattar and Steve
Garcia.
Lewis has won two of his last three Octagon appearances. Most
recently, the popular knockout artist known as “The Black Beast”
scored a third-round stoppage of Rodrigo
Nascimento in the UFC on ESPN 56 headliner in May 2024. His
ledger includes notable wins over the likes of Francis
Ngannou, Curtis
Blaydes, Marcin
Tybura, Alexander
Volkov and Roy Nelson,
to name a few.
A 6-foot-8 heavyweight from Brazil, Teixeira has kicked off his
professional tenure with eight consecutive victories. After earning
a UFC contract with a first-round KO of Arthur
Lopes on
Dana White’s Contender Series, “Xicao” enjoyed a successful
Octagon debut with a 35-second stoppage of Justin Tafa
at UFC 312
this past February.
