The second of two Professional Fighters League Europe tournament
brackets is now a matter of record.

On Friday, the PFL put out the entirety of its 135-pound division
for the upcoming Europe tournament. The winner of each weight
classโbantamweight and lightweightโwill take home a $100,000 check
along with a chance to graduate to the World Tournament next year.
All opening round pairings will take place at
PFL Europe 2, which will be held on May 24 at the Accor Arena
in Paris.
The frontrunner to win it all may come from the matchup between
Dean
Garnett (12-3-1) and Alexander
Luster (9-2). The former battled Lewis
McGrillen-Evans for the good part of three rounds in the
playoffs, while the latter suffered a stoppage due to strikes at
the hands of McGrillen-Evans in the finals. Both men sport solid
finish rates, with Germanyโs Luster eclipsing his opponent due to
100% of his wins coming inside the distance.
This is an international affair, with only the eventโs location of
France celebrating more than one participant. Repping his home
country will be Mahio
Campanella (7-1), who scored a ticket to this tourney by
tapping Ezzoubair
Bouarsa in a match where Cedric
Doumbe would determine if French fighters got a deal. He
collides with SBG Ireland product Matiss
Zaharovs (7-3), who was bumped from the 2024 tourney by the
aforementioned McGrillen-Evans and rebounded by winning a qualifier
against Brian
Hyslop.
Keep the French flag flying will be Anas
Azizoun (5-1), a newcomer in the PFL circuit who made it this
far thanks to his diverse striking arsenal. His opposition will
come in the form of Portugal native Gustavo
Oliveira (10-2), who also is making his way to the PFL this
year with all but one of his triumphs coming before the final bell.
Finally, Julien
Lopez (7-4-1) clashes with Jan
Cieplowski (8-0) to round out the opening round. Lopez made a
splash last year by throttling Dominique
Wooding, only to meet Luster in the playoffs. Polish prospect
Cieplowski has yet to taste defeat as a professional, maintaining a
well-rounded style that allows him to pursue knockouts or
submissions, depending on the opening.
