Beneil
Dariush
is being taken care of, as Dana White had promised.

Dariush was originally scheduled to fight Renato
Carneiro
at UFC 311
on Saturday at the Intuit Dome in Las Vegas. However, the card saw
some turbulence on the day of the weigh-ins when the main event
fell through. Islam
Makhachev
was supposed to defend his lightweight title against
Arman
Tsarukyan
in the headliner. However, Tsarukyan was forced out
at the last moment due to a back injury.

Dariush received a call from manager Ali Abdelaziz informing him
that there could be a last-minute change. Having already lost
against “Ahalkalakets” in 2023, Dariush knew the UFC wouldn’t offer
him a rematch so soon and was hoping for a surprise title shot.
While a title shot was up for grabs, Dariush soon learned that the
UFC chose “Moicano” over him. However, White promised to take care
of “Benny” for the canceled booking against Carneiro.

The lightweight veteran recently revealed that he will receive both
his show and win money for the canceled UFC 311 fight. And while he
would have loved a gold bid, Dariush understands the
UFC
’s decision.

“It’s excellent, I can’t complain, they’re giving me show money and
win money so you know, a lot of people are like, ‘I hope they take
care of you.’ They are,” Dariush told The Schmo. “I appreciate
Dana, I appreciate the UFC, I appreciate Hunter. They didn’t pull
anything back where I can complain. I even understand why they made
the decision they made. So I genuinely don’t have anything to
complain about. I do wish I got a chance to fight for the title,
but I can’t complain because what they did was the right thing to
do. If I was in their situation, I would probably do the same.”
