Cory
Sandhagen
(17-5) is eyeing Petr Yan
(18-5) after the latter’s latest win at UFC
Macau
.

Yan put on a striking clinic to earn an emphatic unanimous decision
win over Deiveson
Figueiredo
in the main event at UFC Macau last weekend.
Sandhagen subsequently called out “No Mercy,” who already has a win
over him in 2021. Sandhagen wants to avenge his loss against the
Russian even if he doesn’t get that matchup immediately.

“Congrats to Yan. Maybe we will do it next,” Sandhagen said on his
YouTube channel. “I don’t really know what the division’s [got] going on. I haven’t really heard too much. I was hoping to hear
probably sometime next week about the direction that they are gonna
go in. Because I know they were waiting on this fight to play out.
Congrats to Yan. I still wanna get that one back. We’ll see if it
will be next or not.”

Yan bounced back from his title loss against Aljamain
Sterling
with a unanimous decision win over Sandhagen in 2021.
Yan then went on a three-fight skid, albeit against elite
competition in Sterling, Sean O’Malley and Merab
Dvalishvili
. The 31-year-old has since racked up consecutive
wins over Yadong Song
and Figueiredo to put himself back into title contention.

Meanwhile, Sandhagen bounced back from his loss against Yan with
consecutive wins over Song, Marlon Vera
and Rob
Font
. The 32-year-old saw his streak snapped with a unanimous
decision loss against Umar
Nurmagomedov
in a potential title eliminator at UFC Saudi
Arabia this past August.
