Merab
Dvalishvili
wants to defend his title against Petr Yan
next.

Yan earned a shutout unanimous decision win over former flyweight
champ Deiveson
Figueiredo
in the main event at UFC
Macau
on Saturday. Yan subsequently called for a rematch
against Dvalishvili, who beat him via unanimous decision in March
2023. Dvalishvili wasted no time in accepting the rematch against
“No Mercy.” “The Machine” wants to defend his bantamweight strap
against Yan at UFC 313 on March 18 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las
Vegas.

“Great fight Petr. I like your callout, and I like your respect,”
Dvalishvili said in a video on social media. “Let’s go again, after
two years. March 8, T Mobile. Let’s f—-ing go.”

Dvalishvili won the title with a unanimous decision win over Sean
O’Malley at UFC
306
this past September. While Umar
Nurmagomedov
has since been calling Dvalishvili out, the
Georgian was instead rallying for a rematch against O’Malley.
According to Dvalishvili, the undefeated Dagestani is still
undeserving of a title shot and will only potentially get one
because he’s the cousin of the legendary Khabib
Nurmagomedov
. Dvalishvili has now seemingly shifted focus to
Yan but remains adamant on not fighting Nurmagomedov. Defending his
callout of Yan, Dvalishvili urged fans to watch the Russian’s
performance against “Deus da Guerra” at UFC Macau before jumping to
conclusions.

“Did you guys watch the full fight for Yan vs. Figueiredo?! I know
a lot of you guys probably missed it because of the time difference
but it’s a must watch,” Dvalishvili wrote in a since deleted tweet.
“Make no comments unless you witnessed the work of Yan. He looked
absolutely unstoppable.”

Nurmagomedov was not surprised by Dvalishvili’s callout.

Dvalishvili is currently on an 11-fight winning streak, 10 of which
have occurred at bantamweight. Meanwhile, Yan went through a rough
patch after his title loss against Aljamain
Sterling
in 2021, dropping four of five, albeit against elite
competition. However, he has since bounced back with consecutive
wins over Yadong Song
and Figueiredo. Nurmagomedov has six UFC wins in as many outings,
the most notable of which is a unanimous decision over Cory
Sandhagen
this past August.
