The middleweight championship rematch between Johnny
Eblen and Fabian
Edwards will not take place at
Bellator Champions Series London as originally scheduled.
The promotion announced on Tuesday that the bout will be rebooked
for a future event, with an announcement to be made in the coming
days. As for Bellator London, a women’s featherweight tilt pitting
Sara
Collins against Leah
McCourt has been elevated to the evening’s headliner. A reason
for the postponement was not given.
Bellator Champions Series London takes place on Sept. 14 at OVO
Arena in London and airs in its entirety on Max in the United
States. Two other changes were confirmed for the card: Joseph
Luciano will replace Ross
Houston and face Steven Hill
in a catchweight bout at 175 pounds, while a women’s featherweight
scrap between Eman
Almudhaf and Daiane Da Silva has been added to the lineup.
Eblen initially defended his 185-pound belt against Edwards with a
third-round KO victory at Bellator 299 in September 2023. The
American Top Team product is unbeaten in 15 professional
appearances and is coming off a split-decision triumph over
Impa
Kasanganay at PFL vs. Bellator this past February.
Edwards rebounded from the loss to Eblen by outpointing Aaron
Jeffery at Bellator Champions Series Belfast on March 22. He
has won four of his last five Bellator appearances overall.
Australia’s Collins has been victorious in her first five pro
outings, earning wins over Pam
Sorenson and Sinead
Kavanagh under the Bellator banner in the process.
McCourt is coming off a 1-1 campaign in 2023, when she dropped a
unanimous verdict to Cat Zingano
before scoring a first-round stoppage of Sara McMann.
