The
Kill Cliff FC
standout secured the top seed in the
Professional Fighters League
light heavyweight playoffs with a
second-round doctor stoppage victory against 2023 PFL Europe
kingpin Jakob Nedoh
at
PFL 5
on Friday night at the Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City,
Utah.

“I told myself this: How would I fight if I was leading Heaven’s
armies? God put me here and God’s gonna take me out of here,”
Kasanganay said. “No other man will. He’s a champion; you’ve got to
take it from him.”

After besting Joshua
Silveira
to win the PFL title a year ago, Kasangany will get a
rematch with the fourth-seeded “Coninha” in the light heavyweight
semifinals on Aug. 16 at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida. On
the other side of the 205-pound bracket, 2022 champion Rob Wilkson
will collide with Bellator veteran Dovletdzhan
Yagshimuradov
.

Meanwhile, ex-Bellator champ Brent
Primus
made the biggest statement at lightweight on Friday, as
he vanquished Solomon
Renfro
with a third-round rear-naked choke to clinch the No. 1
spot at 155 pounds. He’ll meet No. 4 seed and 2023 finalist
Clay
Collard
in one semifinal, while No. 2 Gadzhi
Rabadanov
and No. 3 Michael
Dufort
will square off in the other semifinal matchup.

“Nothing better in life. I love PFL, the platform,” Primus said.
“This is for my family. I’m going to Hollywood, Florida, for that
$1 million. I will win it. Let’s go.”

While the PFL postseason is taking shape, there is one more order
of business at hand. Next week, attention will turn to the
featherweight and welterweight divisions when
PFL 6
heads to the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South
Dakota, for the final event of the regular season.
