Carnelossi is bringing receipts showing the injuries she
sustained in her last bout.
At UFC Fight Night 241 on May 18, Brazil’s Carnelossi faced
Piera
Rodriguez on the preliminary portion of the event. After
dropping Carnelossi with a front kick and follow-up punches,
Rodriguez measured and delivered two headbutts deemed intentional
by referee Mark Smith. Rodriguez was disqualified for her fouls,
marking the first DQ due to a headbutt in UFC history.

Rodriguez later cried foul on social
media, claiming that Carnelossi was a “coward.” While admitting
that she made a mistake, the Venezuelan proffered that Carnelossi
should be ashamed of earning a win in such a fashion.
“I rather lose a fight because of a mistake I did, than go home
calling myself a ‘winner’ knowing I am a coward…,” Rodriguez wrote.
“I made a big mistake, maybe because of adrenaline…but you have to
go to sleep with that lie in your head your entire life! [Ariane]
and you call yourself brave? I hope you and your team enjoy my
money!”
“Sorriso” fired back on her own social
media, stating soon after, “What differentiates humans from
animals: it’s the ability to live with rules.” Carnelossi’s team
shared medical documents with Sherdog on Friday, including the
initial report from Las Vegas, as well as her follow-up scans in
her native Brazil. The Valley Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas
wrote that Carnelossi was diagnosed with a head injury, laceration
of upper frenulum, nasal injury, nausea and sinusitis. The results
in Brazil were far more descriptive.

According to the report from the Presidente Prudente Radiology
Institute, Carnelossi suffered fractures to her nasal bone, left
maxillary sinus, zygomatic arch and orbital cones, along with a
deviated septum. For the zygomatic arch, the damage could have been
sustained earlier than this match, like from a previous injury or
even something suffered during training. As a result, Carnelossi
will be forced to undergo surgery to repair the breaks, in what she
claims will be her 14th surgery since joining the UFC roster in
2019.
