The
Professional Fighters League has announced the full card for
the final regular season event of its European circuit.
PFL Europe Newcastle will take place on June 8 at Utilita Arena
in Newcastle, England, and is headlined by the MMA debut of boxing
champion Savannah Marshall, as she takes on Mirela
Vargas in a showcase bout at 155 pounds. Additionally, the card
will feature regular season bouts at men’s bantamweight and women’s
flyweight, with winner’s advancing to the PFL Europe
postseason.
The bantamweight season pairings include: Dean
Garnett vs. Ayton De
Paepe; Frans
Mlambo vs. Luke
Shanks; Khurshed
Kakhorov vs. Bondo
Kikadze and Alexander
Luster vs. Alperen
Karabulut.
Meanwhile, the women’s flyweight regular season bouts are as
follows: Shanelle
Dyer vs. Mariam
Torchinava; Lizzy
Gevers vs. Sammy Jo
Luxton; Valentina
Scatizzi vs. Marie
Loiseau and Dee Begley
vs. Paulina
Wisniewska.
Additionally, PFL Europe Newcastle will also include a welterweight
regular season clash between Jack Grant
and Charlie
Leary due to a fight cancellation at the previous event in
Paris.
PFL Europe Newcastle also features a number of showcase bouts,
including a lightweight clash pitting Kane Mousah
against Dylan Tuke in
the co-main event. Other showcase matchups include: Ibragim
Ibragimov vs. Josh Reed at
featherweight; Mark Ewen vs.
Mathias
Poiron at lightweight and Ben
Woolliss vs. Maher
Belkhadir at featherweight.
“We can’t wait to come back to Newcastle on June 8, where PFL
Europe officially launched in 2023. Our bantamweight and women’s
flyweight rosters are packed with quality and represent the best
that the elite European MMA scene has to offer, and with the
regular Season format all of these fighters know what’s at the end
of the line: the European title, $100,000 and a pathway to our
global season,” said Dan Hardy,
head of fighter operations for PFL Europe.
“But it wouldn’t be a PFL Europe event without a stacked evening of
showcase bouts, and we have a great selection of future stars,
simmering tensions and a local hero in Savannah Marshall making her
MMA debut.”
