Sherdog.com has learned that Kierczynska has been booked to face
three-time muay-thai world champion Ekaterina
Vandaryeva at
ONE Fight Night 20. The three-round 125-pound muay-thai clash
will go down March 8 at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok.
Jaroonsak was initially scheduled to face Dayane
de Souza Cardoso in a mixed-rules contest at ONE Fight Night
19. However, Cardoso was forced to withdraw, and Kierczynska
stepped in as a late replacement.
Fortunately for her, the gamble yielded great rewards. Going into
the muay-thai rules clash as an underdog, the Polish phenom earned
a second-round stoppage with a fiery showcase, thoroughly
dismantling Jaroonsak via TKO in the second round.
Kierczynska announced her arrival with formidable authority and in
her post-fight interview shed light on plans to unveil more of her
prowess in the next contest.
“I can fight against anybody, step by step until I get a world
title fight,” Kierczynska said. “My first dream was to get into ONE
Championship, but my second dream is to become a ONE world champion
and have the belt. It was only two rounds today, but next time I
think I can show you more of Martyna Kierczynska and more of my
Polish power.”
Vandaryeva has found it challenging to replicate her international
acclaim on the ONE Championship stage, losing four consecutive
fights since making her debut in October 2019. She last saw action
in a muay-thai showdown against Iman Barlow at ONE Fight Night 8,
losing the bout via unanimous decision.
