A spat between former
Ultimate Fighting Championship
fighters Jake Shields
and Mike
Jackson
turned into a scuffle and has now reportedly resulted
in formal charges. MMAFighting was first to report the news.

Shields (33-11) and Jackson (1-2) had been trading barbs online
over matters such as politics and race before getting into a
physical altercation at Las Vegas’ UFC Performance Institute last
December.

In a partial clip of the scrap that went viral, Shields can be seen
controlling Jackson from top and landing a few blows while the
latter pleaded with bystanders to intervene.

Jackson subsequently threatened to press charges and has now
seemingly followed through. Shields was charged with one count of
misdemeanor battery on Aug. 8 and failed to appear for an
arraignment on Sept. 21, as per Clark County online court records.
A bench warrant was issued for his arrest the same day. As of
publication time, the former Strikeforce champion has yet to turn
himself in, nor has he been arrested.

Jackson (38) is scheduled to take on fellow UFC vet Pat Miletich,
55, in a grudge match on Oct. 14 in Davenport, Iowa.
