Anthony
Pettis
will be on the mend after suffering fractures to his
left hand and right thumb in a lightweight playoff loss to Steven Ray at
PFL 7.

The former UFC and WEC lightweight champion posted photos of his
X-rays and revealed that he will need to undergo surgery to repair
the injuries. Pettis fell to Ray via unanimous decision on Aug. 5,
his second consecutive loss to the Scottish UFC veteran. Even if
“Showtime” had been victorious, it is unlikely he would have been
able to fight in the PFL Championship.

Pettis has gone 1-4 during his PFL tenure, with his lone victory
coming against Myles Price
via first-round submission on May 6. Since 2015, the Roufusport
stalwart is just 7-12 as a professional. It is currently unclear if
Pettis will return for the next PFL season.

Ray and Olivier
Aubin-Mercier
will square off for the lightweight championship
and $1 million at an event later this year.
